Hi There -
My name is Shin Ohtake.
I’m the creator of MAX Workout Club and I’d like to be your online coach.
Before I created MAX Workouts and MAX Workout Club, I was a chiropractor.
I specialized in soft tissue therapy and helping people like you and competitive athletes recover from injuries caused by overuse and poor workout planning.
My doctorate is from Palmer Chiropractic College West in Northern California where I studied the connection of your nervous system to weight loss and muscle building.
The workouts I’ll plan for you when you become a MAX Workout Club member are designed to leverage the power of your nervous system to maximize calorie burn, weight loss, and lean muscle gain.
Let me explain for a minute how my experience as a chiropractor led me to create the club you’re reading about today...
As a chiropractor, I dealt every day with the very same fitness lies you’ve already experienced.
One minute, my patients were being told long cardio workouts were the best way to lose weight. The next minute, they were learning why "Everything You Know About Fitness is Wrong."
One week, everyone was cutting out fat to lose weight. The next week, the whole world moves to high fat and low carb diets.
The problem for my practice as a chiropractor was that people were getting injured. They were coming in to see me because they hurt themselves following the latest fit trends and fat loss miracles.
Quite frankly, I was tired of it (and I still am).
One of the reasons you’ve never really experienced lasting results is because of the way the fitness world "bounces around" from idea to idea.
What I’ve done, is created a single program that sticks to what works and incorporates the power of
...to keep you from getting injured, avoid fat-loss and fitness plateaus, and accelerate results.
The result is a proven program for fat loss and lean muscle growth I’m proud to stand behind with workouts I update for you every 3 weeks, video tutorials to keep you from getting injured, and shorter, total-body focused exercises that help you burn calories faster.
Over 300,000 people and counting have experienced MAX Workout Club and agree—it’s better to stick to what works instead of bouncing between fitness fads.
I invite you to join the club today! Keep reading to learn more and see everything that’s included.
Stay Lean and Fit,
Shin Ohtake

For the last four and a half years my life had been on auto pilot, following the death of my spouse. I had no motivation, did very little or no exercise, had elevated blood pressure and a thyroid imbalance. Tail end of last year I decided to do something about my health – particularly my weight. Having done the dieting/gym routine and not achieving great results, I decided to look on the internet for an alternate, and I came across the MAX Workouts site. It sounded interesting but too good to be true. I spent the weekend reading and re-reading the information on the site (especially the testimonials) and finally decided to purchase the program.
I must admit that my body went into shock on the first day of exercising – I had never done exercises with such intensity – so much so that I thought I would never cope, but with encouragement of my son and all the emails from Shin I persevered and slowly it became more manageable and doable. I started with 5kg dumbbells and then progressed to 7kg’s for my strength training. For my cardio workouts I used the stationary bicycle. After a few weeks I noticed I had gained more flexibility and my body was responding quicker to the various movements required for the exercises. I began to feel stronger. I was consistent in doing the program and tried not to miss any of the workouts.
I have never been good at counting calories but I tried the Lean Body Diet for the last six weeks, cutting out refined carbs and increasing my raw food intake. I enjoy this way of eating. It actually does boost one’s energy levels. The program has empowered me. I feel so good about myself. I also feel great physically – I have more energy and stamina, my mood has lifted, my blood pressure is back to normal and my thyroid is fine.
My favorite exercises are cardio on the bike and squats with the weights; my nemesis is the burpees but I am not giving up – I will master them. I never thought at age 60 my body could respond so well to exercise. I do have a few more inches to lose but I am so excited at what I see now. A big THANK YOU to Shin. I appreciate all the emails; the information and encouragement were very helpful. I would look forward to receiving mail from you whenever I opened my mailbox. Thank you MAX Workouts for empowering me and giving me a new lease on life.

×My name is Vincent Mucci Jr. and I am 48 years old. I started out at 165lbs 5’9”
I lost about ten pounds about half way into the program. Unfortunately, I somehow injured my knee at work, so I could not really workout. I tried but I did not want to make my knee any worse. I sent you pictures right after I injured myself.
I was not too worried about my weight as much as the way I felt and looked. My stamina is better and I can feel myself getting more powerful. When my knee gets better, I am going back to hitting it hard. My diet has changed for the better (less the occasional snack here and there, my biggest hurdle). I have basically cut out all rice, pasta and breads and I am trying to eat lean meats and high protein along with vegetables and some fruits.
Thank you very much for getting me back on track to getting healthy. Now I will work on getting my wife and daughter in better shape and healthy.
Sincerely,
Vincent Mucci Jr.
I was one of your top 12 contestants for the spring transformation contest, and I didn’t win, which I admit was heart wrenching for me. Despite my family support (and from forums on your site) I did feel low and took a couple of days to lick my wounds. Sounds childish I know but I believe I (mis)placed a lot of importance in making it “out there” in the world and equated the results of that competition to my own personal results. Like my failure to win indicated failure in my own life.
Anyway, that self pity lasted 2 days but I continued with the program. Apparently my physical transformation also equipped me with mental strength as well (who knew?) So this my second time to enter this contest. After the couple of days that I wallowed in self pity, I caught a glance of myself in the mirror and remembered where I’d come from:
When I started the 90 day program I couldn’t do a single push-up. Not on my knees, not in my dreams. I had never lifted anything beyond a pink dumbbell of 5 lb I’d never attempted a pull up and my version of squats were more like taking a slight dip at the knees. Yet I kept with the exercises, no matter how they scared me at first, I tried, and tried.
By the end of the 1st 3 weeks I was doing knee push-ups! Me! All 222 lbs of me! Things started changing as I got stronger and I found less need to substitute exercises to easier sets. Next I found myself wanting to push myself even further - incredible. Pretty soon I’d finished the 90 day and I entered the contest to make it to top 12. I got a lots of supportive emails from max workout members from the forums and it was great. I had lost 35lbs! I mean, c’mon!!!
So I thought to join the dailies, but part of me had the feeling that I had “unfinished” business with the 90 day because I had substituted a lot of the exercises. So I wanted to do it all, no subs. So I did. And for anyone who thinks that doing the 90 day second time around is any easier or it becomes “boring,” trust me, your body reacts like it had never done the exercises before. It’s still fresh and challenging and you forget you had done it before. So that worked great for me and by the end of round 2 I was looking at a total loss of 55 lbs.
Then came the dailies. A whole new world. Shin and Susan have somehow managed to keep their exercises new. I was introduced at some point to something called the Turkish get up - pure fun explaining what that is to other people! I also learned, I never imagined I’d ever say this, to love burpees!!! Along with learning new exercises I never thought I could be capable of I also shared my journey with the “regulars” on the dailies forums who bring humor, support, great information, suggestions, and “roarrrs” to pump you through it. I admit the forums themselves became more than motivation for me to workout so I could share my “bloody” tale with my brothers and sisters in arms. I still do the dailies and I’m now at the 72 lbs mark of weight loss since I entered Shin and Susan’s world! Basically I have lost 1/3 of the person I was!
A year in transformation! I turn 40 in 2 weeks and the gift of my body, health, life, and emotional healing is probably the best gift I could give myself (ok and a trip to the Bahamas). I’m excited, I’m pumped, I just had a successful neck surgery 2 days ago, and I’m at my healthiest weight and I’ve never been stronger. Looking forward to going back to dailies when I’m cleared! Oh and about the push-ups I couldn’t do when I started, I now do 30 on my toes… as part of my warm up 😊
This woman (in a bikini now!), wife, and mother of 2 thanks you Shin & Susan, my family thanks you!
Tsitsi
Note: The measurement below are taken only from her 2nd time around in the 90 day Program (and not the daily workouts that she has dedicated herself to in the past year which has brought her weight down to 149.8 lbs).
Before: After:
Weight: 187 lbs 167 lbs
So I’m a 39 year old mother, a wife, a full time employee. Somewhere along the way, I forgot about being a woman. 2 years after having my second child, I discovered that I had completely morphed into an obese version of the person I was. It took persistent comments about my size from family members and the difficulty I felt in doing everyday tasks for me to realize that I had become fat. There I said it.
I finally weighed myself and cried at what I had become. For the next weeks I quietly felt sorry for myself and went online to try to find something, anything that I could actually do to help myself. I found Max workouts almost instantaneously. I read and read and went to bed clutching my iPad believing that I should try it and it would work for me. I procrastinated for a few more weeks doubting myself and quite frankly doubting the program because I had just stopped believing.
A few weeks later I clicked on the bookmark for the program and bought it. Why? Because it just made sense about getting my entire body into shape and not just concentrating on abs. I also liked the idea of changing things up every 3 weeks. And yes, the idea of short intense workouts made sense to me and hectic schedule. I do not have a hour a day! I dove right in and just tossed excuses out the window. I printed the contract with myself to do this for me. I committed to me. I invested in me.
I started by doing the dynamic warm ups instead of the exercises themselves for the 1st two weeks because I knew I was fully sedentary. I needed a boost of confidence, something I could do, support! The warms ups were hard for me but doable for the categorized as obese person that I had become. I kept at it. I kept at it.
When I started the program 2 weeks later i took my pictures. I was way too modest to wear a bikini. But I needed a reference picture for myself. I have not looked at that picture again until today.
Then I began. Within a week I noticed a change in my energy and my attitude. I felt sharper and and felt I could take stairs instead of the elevator. 1 week! Shocking right? I took it as a signal that my body liked what I was doing and wanted more.
The workouts really are 20 minutes long, intense and to the point. I ditched listening to my iPod as I got into it. I became intense. I could zone out other people at the gym, eventually I could zone out feeling awkward as I did my thing. Once I’m in my sets it’s just me vs… Me actually. I became intense.
The exercises have a lot of substitutions you can make if you can’t do them. I must have taken every single substitution available. Failing for me was not an option, so if I needed to do knee pushups instead of regular pushups to get through my sets, I did it. I did not feel like “a punk” for doing that. I didn’t beat myself up on that, I came to work and work I did. After a while it became addictive. The personal challenges in the variation of exercises (and it’s a never boring variety) kept me motivated to try new things. And it seems every time I got remotely close to getting used to them they switched!
So the weight. I actually forgot about that number on my scale. But I it was getting smaller and smaller at an almost comical rate. I started taking it for granted that I was losing either way, so sometimes I didn’t weigh myself weekly. At some point I got distracted by how my clothes were fitting me and that fascinated me more than my weight loss! I started doing random things like racing with my kids, rearranging furniture, choosing to walk to places I normally drive to. I had energy!
Then Shin has the weekly emails that helped me too. They seem to “know” what I was going through - sore muscles, not enjoying the treadmill run (I switched to elliptical trainer for my cardio based on Shin’s advice and saved my knees), learning about drinking protein… I got myself whey isolate powder and then soon after bam! Muscles started showing up! Wow! Truly wasn’t expecting that, I just thought at most I’d shed some pounds. I hadn’t realized that toned body parts were part of the package. Pleasant surprise!
So next I have other people asking me what exercises they should do. That’s when I knew that it’s showing right? Ha! You know my motivation was through the roof at this point. So yep, I kept at it. The whole 12 weeks. Bam!
Now today I had my sister take my picture again. She snapped, I smiled. I didn’t need to suck my tummy in (hey that didn’t work the first time anyway). Then I found those pictures from that first week to look at for the 1st time in 3 months. Whoa. Ok why try to explain the pictures when you can see them for yourself right? Look for yourself.
I’m a mother, a wife, a full time worker… And a woman 😊 Bam.

Hi Shin and team,
88 days ago I was a 37 year old, 132kg couch potato with high blood pressure, cholesterol and indigestion problems who would not blink at consuming over 12 beers a day.
I started the Max Workouts Program on the January 14, 2013.
Today I am 110kg, off all 3 medications and able to happily run 10km twice a week, over and above the normal MAX Workouts training. I finished the Program on the April 12, 2013.
THIS PROGRAM WORKS! IT’S AMAZING!
I have been overweight for the majority of my life and have tried everything to slim down and keep it off. Normal diets, crash diets, no carb diets, no fat diets, exercise regimes, Injections, detox diets – you name it, I’ve tried it.
I was browsing the internet from the comfort of my couch, beer in hand, when I saw a MAX Workouts ad down the side of the screen, I cannot remember what I was even looking for. It said something about ‘6 of the worst things one can do when trying to lose weight…’. I really have no idea what made me open the link as there are so many of these ‘empty promises’ to lose weight all over the internet but I am so glad I did. It changed my life!
After signing up and reading through all the programs I drafted a food list and went shopping for the correct items. I had some weights lying around from another failed attempt to get myself fit, so I dusted them off and set up ‘my gym’. The next day I started the program and haven’t looked back.
I feel great and can run further then I have ever done before. It is amazing how the high intensity workouts get you fit. Within two weeks I was running up the stairs at work, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, volunteering to go collect items from the other side of the office – It felt so good to be able to do all this and not be out of breath.
I signed up for some running races, first 5km, the 10km. have become an avid hiker, easily walk 15 – 20km a day on the weekends. Cycle races – bring them on!! I have also starting kayaking.
These workouts are awesome, there really is no excuse not to do them, even if you have to be at work early, you can still get these done beforehand. I found the exercises that use your body weight a bonus as I travel a lot and cannot cart the weights around with me, a quick 20 minutes in your hotel room and you are sorted. It is crazy how a simple exercise can work out so much in your body, I have developed a love / hate relationship with burpees!!!!
I have probably missed about 4 sessions throughout the 90 days and felt really guilty about these – it is fantastic that I actually WANT to do these sessions, some days I would even go running after the training session just because I can and wanted to.
I will admit that HIGH INTENSITY took, and still takes some getting used to and know that there have been many sessions that didn’t quite hit the mark here but all in all even a poor session is better than no session!! I just concentrate on keeping form and make notes to up the weight / duration for the next time.
The only downfall and problem I have had during the whole period, is that I have had to completely relook my wardrobe, Im swimming in my clothes now!!!!
I have completely changed the way I eat and loving it, rather than an actual diet the MAX Workouts eating plan can be reduced to some simple rules that WILL work. I eat really tasty food and have not craved anything. I still go out for lunches and dinners and have no problems whatsoever in finding something good on the menu. I have one cup of coffee a day instead of the usual 12 and don’t feel I need anymore as I am full of energy. My alcohol intake is right down, one reason being is that I would rather enjoy my training session than have a beer at night. My focus has completely changed.
I can see that a lot of research and planning has gone into your program, your motivational emails and tips often came at the perfect time, just when I was experiencing the same ups / downs or questions. I would highly recommend giving MAX Workouts a try to anyone wanting to lose weight or get fit. At the cost it is a steal even if your include the price of the weights!
Thank you MAX Workouts and Shin Ohtake
Oh, yes – although I have now completed your 90 days training workout and lost 22kg, I cant wait for the next one, I still would like to lose another 20kg!! 219.9 -> 194.3 = 25.6 (650mm)
Measurements Before (14th January) After (12th April)

I am constantly battling the weight roller coaster! I am a single mom of two and I not only want to keep fit, but I want to condition my children this way so they will never have to battle the weight game in life.
I’ve worked out forever, it feels like, but have yet to see the difference in my body! I feel like I workout for nothing. Legs are still flabby, no shape or definition to them what so ever! I really want to wear a two piece bikini and wear it well! I want to tone and define my body before I’m 40 and keep it like that way too! I know I am hard on myself and I’m very competitive but I have yet to see a difference in my body throughout my time at the gym!
One thing MAX Workouts taught me was to change my workouts I started adding intervals to my 3 mile runs. With my workout changes I noticed my transformation coming! I was good with eating but the messages from MAX Workouts helped me stay focus when it came to my eating habits!! I had lots of energy and looked forward to working out everyday! I will continue my marathon run but my short run I will add my sprints! Thank you Shin!
One change changes everything!

I started MaxWorkouts after I saw on Facebook the great results that one of my friends has had after doing it for 3 months.
I have been pudgy all my life. As a kid I was kind of fat and lost some of that during teenage years. However, I never lost the “spare tire” around my waist. I don’t ever remember not having love handles and being able to see my abdominal muscles.
I took this challenge this year as my New Year resolution. And it worked!
I was totally sedentary all my life until 36 years old. When I was 36 I started running. My motivation for doing so was the realization that if I don’t do something I will die young. I had the cholesterol at the limit to being on the red and my blood pressure the same. I progressed at running until I was able to run 10Km. I settled on running a few times a week 3Km in the morning and the occasional 5Km race a couple of times a year.
When I started MAX Workouts I did not want to give up the cardio so I continued to do 30 min (6 warm-up+20 cardio + 4 cool-off) in the morning and the 30 minutes (10 warm-up + 20 workout) MAX Workout in the evening. In the cardio days I did cardio in the morning and 30 minutes core (10 warm-up + 20 core) in the evening. I did not do any core in the days with weights.
I think MAX Workouts contains several very solid principles that make you successful in losing weight, getting stronger and living healthier.
First is the short and high intensity training that make you lose fat after the exercise is done. You can really feel your muscles in a different state long time after you finish the workout. I wake up every morning and I can feel my love handles are smaller than the night before, which means I burn fat while I sleep. Isn’t that great?
Second is the whole body exercise. I think this is very important to keep you out of troubles and not getting injured. I read in many places on the web that this is the way to go and that single muscle workouts are only for bodybuilders or athletes that know exactly what they are doing. I had zero injuries during the 12 weeks of the program, so I did not miss one single workout.
The third and the most important principle is eating right. Here is where I found the most value out of MAX Workouts. I am an engineer so I need numbers to relate to things. I found Shin’s “Lean body diet” excellent. He is very good at summarizing a lot of information in very simple terms and adding the numbers that I found so useful. Now I know my lean body mass, how many proteins I have to eat and most important of all to stay below 150g of effective carbs, ideally below 100g. I have dropped all the refined carbs from my diet and I feel excellent. I did know that bread is not so good for you but I did not know how bad bread is for you! And I loved bread and sweets! No wonder since they are such powerful drugs.
I quit smoking 22 years ago and in 2013 I quit sugar and wheat!
I could see the effects of diet and exercise on my health almost immediately. When I started MAX Workouts I had the blood pressure 140/80 and pulse 80-85 in resting state. When I checked again 3 weeks later, my blood pressure has dropped to 115/55 and the pulse dropped to 60.
I lost 7.8Kg (17.2lbs), 36cm (14.2”) around my body and 12% of body fat. This is the first time in my adult life when my weight goes below 84Kg. I always went between 84Kg and 103Kg in the last 25 years.
I will definitely continue with MAX Workouts and recommend it to all my friends that ask me how I managed to lose all that weight.
This was the best $40 I ever spent. However, the program comes with hidden costs. I had to throw away all my clothes. I dropped from L to M on the tops and from 36 to 30 on the pants.
Thanks Shin! Your program is great!
Cheers,
Teo

I started my MAX Workouts 90 day program on December 8th and finished March 2nd. I have been an athlete my whole life and have always tried to stay in shape. Within the past few years I noticed it was just not as easy to keep weight off. I was used to being in the gym and working out was part of my daily routine.
I am a teacher and a coach and it’s important to keep my energy level up and stay in shape. I just couldn’t seem to lose the weight though. I knew it was time for something different.
I knew I would be doing to contest over the holidays and was going to be doing lots of traveling. So it was so nice to be able to do the workouts with minimal space and equipment. I never had a problem finding the time or the space to complete a workout.
After these 90 days, I have noticed a huge difference. My energy and stamina is through the roof. I lost almost 10 pounds, but more importantly lost over 13 inches. I enjoy working out and never have an excuse to miss a workout anymore.
Thank you Max Workouts!

I’ve been working out for about 2.5 years before I found MAX Workout and I was so disappointed with the result…especially with my belly! When I found MAX Workouts, I decide to give it a try and after 3 month…voila! The results are nice and even though I didn’t have time to do all of it, I still love the results.

I was weighing in at 101kg (222lb) when I started this programme. My blood pressure was starting to become an issue and the back was not enjoying carrying around the extra weight. And even though I didn`t think my diet was too bad once I started doing a bit of monitoring I was horrified at the results that came back to stare me in the face. So I started maxworkouts on the last day possible and pretty much hit the gym as soon as I got off the plane after lounging around Cuba for a few weeks. And 12 weeks later I have lost 8kg (17.6lb) and dropped from a 36” waist down to a comfy 32” to 33”. All my pants and shirts are baggy, the blood pressure has returned to normal, my back is behaving itself and I`m loving exercising again. I have to add that I am also getting lots of compliments from friends and people I haven`t seen for ages and my partner has been the most complimentary of all. And best of all I like who I see when I look in the mirror!

Although the numbers are fairly close to one another, the amount of fat that has been converted into muscle is amazing! I have tons of energy and I now have the confidence to take off my shirt and I feel great about the accomplishment I have achieved through just this one program! I feel so much stronger now and I can easily go out and keep up with friends when they go out hiking on the bigger mountains that are around my area!

I started my weight loss journey in March of 2011.
The reason I decided that I had to do something was that I lost a brother at the age of 42, my cousin at 42 and both my parents in their early 60’s, all due to health related issues.
I just knew that being in my late 30’s, that I needed to reduce my odds, lose some weight and start living a healthier life style. So, in March 2011, I joined the gym, started working out and tried to eat right. (You know, doing it my way) I did manage to lose some weight, but it soon came to a halt and I did not have the look that I wanted.
I was talking to a trainer in the gym and he told me about MAX Workouts. I checked it out and ordered it at the end of 2011. I did a couple of days here and there and I did see some results, but I was not consistent on my end, and then my work schedule changed.
I no longer could go to the gym due to the gym’s hours and my work schedule, so I did not work out for almost 5 months.
Then one night on the computer I was reading over Max Workouts again and I actually read the whole thing this time, not just skipping to the workouts.
I read the part how you can work out from your home with dumbbells, pull up bar, etc. I built a pull up bar, found dumbbells on Craigslist and got a fitness ball for Christmas. Now, I have my own gym and there is no stopping me!
So, when Shin sent out the email about the transformation contest, I figured I would enter it so I would have some accountability.
I started out and gave it my all. Anytime I had a question on what to eat or on my diet, I would refer back to the Lean Body Diet book.
And I must say Shin, that the emails that you send out about diet, workouts, recovery, etc., always hit the nail right on the head. Almost like you were talking directly to me.
My goal from the start was to increase overall fitness, get to 187 pounds and have 6 pack abs and I came damn close to doing it.
What I did gain from the program was a whole lot of increased fitness, 27 pounds of weight loss, 16.5 inches of fat gone, self discipline and self confidence.
I actually don’t mind taking my shirt off at the beach now.
Thanks Shin!

For the first time in my life I feel strong, fit and healthy. I have been fat all my life from school until my late 40’s. I have tried all sorts of diets and gym memberships and had some short term success, but none of these things I could sustain long term.
The two most important things in life for me is being happy and healthy and I cannot have one without the other. Becoming healthier and having the knowledge of how I can sustain it, has improved my happiness in my life incredibly.
The feeling I get when someone I have not seen for a fair while comes up and says how great I look and how much weight I have lost is better than anything. This gives me the drive to get up and do the program and do it the best I can. It is the hardest thing I do each day, but I also consider it to be the most important thing I do each day.
I made some small changes to suit myself, I did not exercise on weekends and don’t count calories or change my diet. I made a couple of small sustainable changes, they are 1) Swapping breakfast cereal for a bowl of cut up fruit and only eating fruit before lunch 5 days a week (not weekends). and 2) Reducing bread from my lunches and having cut meat and salads instead. As well as that trying to reduce the amount of rice and pasta meals I have. These changes for me have been easy to make and sustain long term.
I listen to my body throughout the program and made changes to some of the weight recommendations, but always tried my hardest to achieve the workouts on the program every morning. For instance, if I am working out on a cold Monday morning and the first exercise I have is deadlifts, I know that if I do not do extra warming up, I will pull a back muscle.
The roll out at the end of the workout with my piece of PVC pipe is nothing short of amazing with the results it gives me, with any back or muscle pain.
This is the best improvement I have ever made in my life and I owe it all to Shin and his MAX Workouts Program.
THANK YOU Shin.

Over the past 10 years, my activity levels have gradually decreased and my consumption of alcohol and junk food gradually increased. I found it impossible to maintain any form of sustainable routine and as a result became more and more unhealthy, gained weight and my fitness levels went out the window. I began to recognize this decline about 5 years ago and tried numerous weight loss programs & fad diets, all of which had a positive impact on my weight in the short term but as is the case with many people I fell back into my old ways and landed back at square 1.
In April (2011) I found MAX Workouts and spent a little over a month studying the material and mentally preparing myself for the road ahead. On June 2nd I began the 90 day program and got hooked immediately. 90 days later, here I am. I didn’t set any targets or goals apart from committing to the program and completing it, so I’m chalking this one down as a win. Initially, I was motivated by the cosmetics of ‘looking better’ but as the weeks went by I began to realize that this is superficial and is not conducive to long term motivation or commitment to leading an active, healthy lifestyle. My goal now is to remain committed to this program and to enjoy a long, happy & healthy life – this is more valuable than all the money in the world.
Shin/ Susan, you are superheroes. Your passion, drive and commitment is inspiring. Thanks for all the info, articles & support (on the discussion boards). I have recommended this to a bunch of people and will continue to spread the good news.
Yours in working out to the MAX!!
Richie
My name is Ria, I’m 26 years old and I’m from Greece. I was firstly introduced to HIIT and MAX Workouts a few years ago but this was the time I decided I needed to combine the workouts and a good healthy diet together. I have always been into sports (mostly basketball) and gym and although I was putting the effort, I never saw the results I was hoping for. Plus I spent a huge amount of time.
So when I read about MAX Workouts I was skeptical at first but then I thought I should give it and me a chance. It’s been the best period of my life. I’m actually looking forward to do the workouts because they are so much time efficient and I feel so energetic during and after I complete them.
However, a healthy diet is also,if not more, crucial. You have to be persistent, dedicated and patient and the results will come. Preparation plays a huge role. I was cooking on Sunday the majority of my meals so i could save time in the weekdays. And every night before bed I would prepare my food containers i’d take with me at work so that i wouldn’t forget anything or lose time in the morning.
The only thing that drew me back in my opinion were the occasional cheat days. Like once every two weeks. Now I’m sure I would have better results if I at least turned them into a cheat meals. Also, don’t let anyone get to you. Remember you have a goal. I faced a few people that didn’t support me and also a co-worker who sits next to me everyday is eating donuts and hamburgers and used to tell me that he didn’t see any difference on me but I kept going and who’s laughing now? :-p But I’m not stopping here.
I’ve set a new goal for my body and I’m ready to achieve it. With MAX Workouts, I’ve gained confidence, lost fat and gained muscle. The differences in my measurements and weight may not sound extreme but the only judge is my mirror I guess and the feedback I get from others. I believe the most important thing that happened is that muscles took the place of fat.

I completed the first 90 days workout and then started with the “second round” of the 90 day program again thereafter. On the first round I was very weak and I felt that I could definitely benefit by doing a “second round” where I increased the weight use with the dumbbells and also managed to do the amount of repetitions as stated. I really enjoy the program and are still continuing with it.

Hello my name is Paul (52) I’m from the Sunshine coast Queensland Australia
First of all I would like to start by saying thanks for all your support during this amazing journey, Its seems like every time I started having doubts you would send an email through almost always pin pointing exactly what was I was thinking and got me over the hump ...thanks Shin.
I think this was by far the hardest thing I have ever challenged myself into ... I mean I really had to set some boundaries even to get here.
My level of fitness now compared to 3 months ago is staggering. I drive for a local bus company and I am a musician (Drummer) and I have been getting compliments from staff and customers (go figure), you wouldn’t think they would notice.
I got so excited I decided to enter the video part of this contest, that was hilarious making it .. all filmed and edited on my mobile phone by my son Lucas.
Anyway I’m stoked ..I mean I haven’t broken any records here but I sure have cleared a direction to Improve on what I have already started, I have even got a couple of the guys at work teaming up to challenge me for the next contest ...ha.. bring it.
Thanks MAX Workouts. Paul.

I’ve been doing MAX Workouts since Nov of 2011. At first I was hesitant to buy the program since I haven’t bought anything online before. I took a risk and it paid off. What caught my attention was the short workouts. I work in the hotel industry where my crazy schedule most of the time leaves me with very little time to exercise. In addition to that, I noticed that I’ve never gone to the the gym for more than 3 straight months, I would get burned out (or bored) after working out regularly for 3 months then I would take a break and most of the time my breaks would take longer than the time I spent working out.
When I first read the 6 worst things you could do to your body, I was intrigued because all of those things I thought I knew were wrong! I did the 90 day program for about 3 times, I brought my body fat % down to 18%, I was enjoying my workouts and have been going to the gym for over 2 years and each workout is never boring. I can feel my energy has increased and I can feel an extra bounce in my step. I was happy but I was not satisfied.
My fitness goal has been to get to below 10% body fat like Shin and like most athletes so starting January of this year I’ve decided to go on the lean diet plan that comes when you purchase the 90 day workout program. Since going on a diet, I feel a lot stronger and more energetic, I’ve lost some more weight and it made me reach my goal of getting to 10% body fat.
Funny thing is, I don’t feel like I’m dieting at all! With all the meat (oh yeah bacon included!), fruits and veggies that I’m eating I get enough nutrition to get me thru work and my workouts. The muscle recovery guide has done wonders for my body as well. I’m never too sore to workout and got rid of the troublesome calf injury I got when I was jogging 2 years ago.
I also signed up for the monthly online gym membership, with this I KNOW that I can bring my body fat % down to my new goal which is 7%! Now I’m getting my wife to try MAX Workouts to help her fight her back problems, she’s a nurse and lower back pain is common in their profession but I know if she does MAX Workouts she can be injury free and just as lean as I am!
Thanks Shin and Susan.

I have never tried to lose weight before. I decided at my age that maybe I was gaining the stomach of an old man, see my before photo. I looked around me at other men with stomachs of varying shapes and sizes and thought NO Way do I want to keep going down that track and looking like them.
I found the MAX Workouts on the internet and I dropped any other exercise and only followed the MAX Workouts program outlined in the booklets. I did this to see for myself if it would work as stated on the website.
WELL————IT DOES WORK if you follow the program.
I feel younger and have more energy then before I started the program. I have been getting asked by people what am I doing to lose so much weight so fast, even by doctors at the hospital where I work!

When I started my summer job in April I decided I wanted some sort of working out program that I could do that would not take long as I work from 0730 until 2130 with unannounced short breaks during the day (some days there are no breaks if there are guests ready to go out on a tour when I return from a previous one.) It is my second summer working as a guide in Moab, UT, which is 4 hours south from Salt Lake City where I live. Last summer I was not happy that I did not get to keep up with my usual regimen of working out, so I wanted to find something that would work with my schedule. I work 4 days on and 3 off back up here in Salt Lake. One of the days back up here is Sunday and I don’t work out on that day, so most of the work out time is in Moab and most of my time there I am working. I could, and did occasionally get up at 0530 and go to the gym and work out but I was not very consistent at that. My weight routine for years has been “push-pull” and legs with occasional abs, but I never have liked sit ups and crunches just never got done…like the stretching. Push was chest and tris 1-2 days a week with pulls/back and bis on the other days and legs 1 or 2 days. The routine has been the same for years with the same sets and reps. Last winter I got into a push up routine and worked my way up to where I could do 70 push ups several times a day. In the winter I am a substitute teacher and would do push ups during the time between class periods.
I also wanted to try something different. I am 61 years old which means I am old school as far as lifting weights. I am a retired Navy Officer with 25 years of active duty. For the last 18 years I was the command fitness coordinator in all the commands I was in. I also outfitted several ships and submarines with exercise equipment and was the morale, welfare, and recreation officer at a major Navy base in charge of the gym and all the rec facilities. I had a new weight room facility built and selected all the equipment for it. Mostly though, I run. I have been a runner for 39 years. My weight lifting has usually been in the winter times when, even though I run in the snow a lot, I do not run as much as in the other 3 seasons. As long as it is above 25 deg I run. And for that matter, as long as it is below 105 deg in Moab, I run when I have the chance.
Twenty years or so ago I used to do competitive 10k runs. Back then it was pretty much 5 and 10k runs on a local level. I got tired of those and just continued to run on my own. Fifteen years ago, shortly after retiring from the Navy and settling here in Salt Lake, I got into trail running up in the mountains. I now do that 90% of the time. I run 4-6 days a week. My usual run is 60 to 90 minutes with at least once a week a longer one from 2-4 hours, depending on the trail I take. In the mountains I start out at around 7,500 feet and go up to 10,000 feet, run along the crest for a few hours and then down to my car. In Moab it is in the desert at about 4,500 foot elevation. I know my pace and can time the run to finish within 2-3 minutes of when I say I will be done.
I have noticed that I have slowed down some over the last 10 years and have experienced more aches and pains when I get out of bed in the morning until I get warmed up and moving. I usually have some sort of lingering ache in the form of tendinitis in a knee, bursitis in a shoulder, or a sore achilles tendon. I have never been very consistent at stretching….in fact….it has been non-existant. My weight started creeping up about 10 years ago and in the last 3-4 years has been up around 205 fluctuating up and down a few pounds. I retired from the Navy in 1993 at 183. I don’t particularly watch my diet letting my exercise control the weight but that is not working so well anymore. In spite of that, I have a very low heart rate and am in good shape….for an old guy. I started doing Tai Chi about 5 years ago and enjoy that. About 5 years ago I became more aware of a decrease in my libido (sex drive) and ability to perform as consistently as in previous years. (It will happen to you someday!!)
When I did a google search I found quite a few online programs and read quite a few of them. As I read the material describing the MAX Workouts program the description and the reasoning behind the variation in the program really appealed to me along with the brevity….30 minutes a day. I also liked the 90 day program that I could use as a start-stop and see what my progress was and decide if it was something I was going to continue. The final selling point for me was I could pay one time for a the download and not have to have a monthly subscription. I do not have easy access to the internet in Moab and even if I did, I don’t have the time for it. I also liked the easy on the pocketbook price for the download.
I was not able to be consistent and missed at least one day each week, sometimes two. I was not at all thrilled with the interval training and readily ran my usual long runs (I caught the disparaging remarks about the long runs in the manual…I enjoy them). I would do some intervals during the long runs but not as disciplined as I was when I did actually do the Tue Thur interval running. I also started using the rolling on the PVC pipe, still not very consistent, but when I did do it on a sore calf I could really tell the difference.
The first thing I noticed was at work when I was backing up the Hummers in the yard. The space is tight and when we back the big machines around we really have to be turned around to watch where we are going. Also, when backing trailers. When on ATV tours leading the guests on the trail it was constant turning around to check on them. Last summer I found the turning to be a strain. Within a month of doing the workouts I noticed it was getting easier to turn. I started noticing that when I did my Tai Chi routines I was more flexible and more in control when I was doing some of the harder part of the routine…...I had better balance and could hit the pose much better and hold it longer without falling into the next movement.
We park the ATVs every night in the shed and take them out every morning and park them along the street. We also load them on to trailers to take them to the trail heads. We drive them mostly but there is a lot of lifting the back ends to get them parked in close quarters or having move them around on the trailers by lifting. I struggled with that last year and the first part of this year. Within 6 weeks of doing the MAX Workouts program I could tell a big difference in my being able to manhandle the machines.
I have noticed over the last 10 years or so that my ankles and feet get fatter/swollen up. Since doing this program, my shoes fit better. My right shoulder bursitis has not bothered me since I started doing this program. And remember, I have done a lot of weight lifting in the past but still had the shoulder problem. My first indicator that I am changing weight (up or down) is the notches I have to use on my belt. I started at 207 in Apr and am now at 187. Here are the rest of the measurements. The first weight is the before and the second is what it is now.
chest 45.75 44
waist 39 37
hips 41.5 40.5
thigh 23.5 23
I have started doing the repeat of the 90 day program to finish my time in Moab but plan on starting over again the 1st of October when I will be able to be more consistant and not miss near as many days. My goal is 180 lbs.
One of my sons decided to do a 1/2 marathon and asked if I wanted to do it with him. He recently started running and of course I entered the race and did it with him. I surprised myself and took first in my age group. I had noticed that my times were starting to look like the times of my runs 10 years ago and my body was not feeling as “old” the next day after a long run. I did an Olympic distance triathlon with my other son and with no prior swimming or biking prep, just your workouts and my running and I ended up taking first in my age group again. I recently did another 1/2 marathon and took second. I am doing another 1/2 in November and expect my time to be even better.
I started out doing most of the dumbbell exercises with the 25 lb weights. I now am doing the 30 and for some of the press ups I am using the 35 lbs ones. I hardly rest in between rounds and sometimes not at all unless you indicated it is for the interval benefit.
I admit I have not done much to change my eating habits. I still have a bowl of frozen yogurt or ice cream almost every evening after the sunset hummer tour. The thing I did do though is read your book on smoothies and have enjoyed that. Thanks for what you have done for me and for providing a program that I intend to continue long into the future…...until I literally cannot do the exercises anymore. I expect I will notice a difference in my skiing this winter and look forward to that.
Believe it or not I have been working out for 30+ years. (You’d never know it from my before photo). These last few years I’ve caught myself many times looking at all the younger gym members thinking why don’t I have that level of energy anymore, thinking it was just my age and it was the reality of getting older. Well, I’m here to tell you that it is not the reality. MAX Workouts didn’t just get me into better shape it’s given me more energy. When I first looked at the routines the first thing I thought was this is not going to be that hard. Boy was I wrong the workouts were so challenging and exciting I couldn’t wait to get to the gym. I hadn’t sweat like that in years. For the first time in years I felt alive again at the gym. Energy that I haven’t felt in years. Now I’m not nearly as tired at the end of the day as I used to be.
The best part about Max Workouts is how efficient the workouts are. I was from the “old school” of working out thinking you need to spend at least two hours at the gym. Well, you’ve seen my before picture proving hanging out at the gym for a couple of hours means absolutely nothing!!! It really is about the quality of the workout and not how long you stay at the gym.
In closing I sincerely want to thank you again for making me fell good about my workouts and myself. Proving that my age was not a factor and I could still look and feel good.

I started my max workouts journey a little over a year ago, I had tried an “online program” before and was skeptical, because of a very busy schedule and a rather large family (five boys) time was very important to me. Weighing in at 215lbs (too ashamed to take a real before pic) and over the course of my first 12 week program I lost 21lbs, and only changing my diet slightly. Bouncing around 195lbs and feeling pretty good about seeing the lower side of 200lbs in 15 years. I was pumped to try the challenge again. Through the first 6 weeks I could see my arms and waist changing but no change in weight. So I really analyzed my diet and through a helpful app for my phone realized I was still taking in too many carbs. Once I got that squared away I started burning pounds away. I ended up losing 12 more pounds…IN ONLY SIX WEEKS!!!! Goodness me If I had only got my carb issue under control earlier!! My strength has increased to a point I have never seen before. As a college level athlete I was very fit and pretty strong, but I have never been able to do one armed push-ups! I can do those now! (I will send a second email with that video attached) but I think the best thing that happened to me was about week 9, I was bouncing up the stairs with my shirt off and my 14yr old son says “wow, looking good dad” just a simple compliment but it was like throwing gas on a fire!! I went nuts!! Counting every carb every gram of protein, every gram of fat. My wife thought I was nuts, complaining about my crazy diet of avocados and sardines, and not wanting to eat the meals she prepared. (I did eat her meals..just smaller portions, you know what they say “happy wife, happy life”) On that note she is VERY pleased with the way I look. I wanted to hit 180lbs but ended up at 183lbs this morning.

In 2002, I was a personal trainer. I had my whole life planned out. I was training full time and planning on owning a gym, then everything changed.
One Sunday afternoon in 2003, I was playing football with some of my friends. I fell on the ground after being tackled and hit my head. This put me into a 21 day coma. I had a traumatic brain injury and it changed my life. The doctors said I was brain dead. But then I woke up, everything had changed in my life in that one moment. It was like I was an infant again. I had to learn how to read, walk, talk, and write, use the bathroom let alone workout. How can you work out when you’re like an infant and you can’t even walk? I had to stop my career and start doing rehab to get my life back.
I stayed in rehab for 3 1/2 years. During that time, I lost most of my muscle tone because I was unable to work out like I had been before. But also during that time I met my wife and got married. We got married 2007. Shortly after we got married, we moved from Arkansas to Louisiana, we had some beautiful babies, and was enjoying life. But during each pregnancy, I kept getting fatter and fatter with my wife lol - is it true that men get fatter and fatter with each pregnancy?? LOL. It was true in my case.
After we had our last baby, I decided that I needed a change! That’s when I started looking into work outs online, and found Shin’s MAX Workouts.
The MAX Workouts caught my attention because it look like something that I had never seen before. It caught my attention because even though I had been a personal trainer before, I had never seen workouts quite like these before. These were unique. I read the testimonials and decided that it was something that I needed to do. I was tired of being fat and getting fatter and I needed to get my career back!
In January 2013, When I started the MAX Workouts, it was the 10 year reunion of my traumatic brain injury account. After 10 years of just getting fatter and fatter and more out of shape, I was tired all the time and decided I needed a change in my life.
January 13, 2013, I started the 90 day MAX Workouts challenge. I was very pleased with the workouts, they are very intense, but it only lasts about 20 to 30 minutes which is great for me, being a busy dad with 2 little kids. I loved how the workouts switched things up and kept it very interesting. The focus of a high calorie burn is the intensity and boy does this have that. But what’s great is that it’s all starting from where your body is at- you can do this even if you are greatly out of shape. That is where I started.
After the first week, I felt more energized and healthy. My wife started noticing a difference in my body right away! It was amazing, I lost about 5 lbs the first week alone, and that was just the beginning. The weight and inches continually melted off after this. See my results in the pics… It is no lie!
At the end of the 90 day challenge, April 13, 2013, we were moving back to Arkansas from Louisiana to be near our families again. I had to take an after pic on the road traveling, that is a funny story! Many cars were honking at me on the side of the road to show their support of my new sexy body! Haha!
I plan on after moving back to Arkansas, to starting my career back as a personal trainer. When I do get my personal training back in motion, I am SURE going to use these workouts I learned in this program and endorse this program the best I can for it has really changed my life- 14 inches and 29 lbs lost in 90 days is amazing!
Thank you Shin for giving the free daily emails with the awesome information and tips, positive encouragement and routines to alter for a physical benefit. Thank you also for the diet plan- it helped my body as much as the exercises did! Very impressive! You are going to become famous in Arkansas after I start spreading the word about these workouts!
THANK YOU SHIN!!!

I am a 52 year old mother and grandmother. I started out at 5’4, 146 pounds and seriously out of shape, physically and mentally.
I had not exercised in about 20 or so years and over the last 3 years had gained around 20 pounds since starting to work from home.
I felt fat, fatigued and depressed most of the time. I spent my days sitting in front of my computer in my home office and eating more than I should because I was home and it was just so easy!
I didn’t really want to do anything and didn’t really care what I wore as nothing looked good anyway.
At the end of the day, even though I had been sitting behind the desk, I was run down and tired.
My boyfriend had lost quite a lot of weight and was looking for an exercise program when he found MAX Workouts.
I’m not sure how, but he convinced me to join the 12 week challenge with him.
The first couple of weeks were tough after being sedentary for so long and I almost quit a couple of times, BUT I didn’t.
After I go through this, I started looking forward to the mornings so I could workout! As I continued, I started seeing progress and that just made me want to push harder and keep going. It wasn’t easy at all, but it so rewarding.
I started feeling much stronger, noticed some changes in my body, and had gained a lot of energy and stamina.
I lost 10.6 pounds and 11.5 inches!!
I took a week off and I’m starting another 90 days.I kept track of my reps and times over the 90 days and I’m going to increase them this time and pay closer attention to the diet plan.
I can’t wait to see the results this time as I am completely stoked and ready!
Thank you Shin!

My name is Marco, I am 41 years old, I live in Italy with my family (my wife, two children, two cats). I purchased MAX Workouts back in June 2011.
At that time I had an absolutely not fit body: I weighed 81kg (and I was still growing…), I ate without any food culture, I smoked, I drank… but doing MAX Workouts allowed me to start a healthy lifestyle and, above all, to get the body that I knew I had, but I had lost along the way.
So in 2011 I completed the program for the first time and I lost 16Kg and regained a lean and fit physique. Thanks to MAX Workouts from that moment I started to put fitness and well-being at the center of my interests.
From 2011 to date I have used different training programs, but what I’ve figured out is that when I want get lean and ripped v athletic physique, nothing compares to MAX Workouts… it is the most effective.
When I heard about the contest this year I jumped at the opportunity to participate, since I had gained some weight during the winter time. And 90 days later… here are my results.

MAX Workouts - A life changing experience
On December 30, 2011, I was diligently recording my calories count in MyFitnessPal (great program, by the way) and I came across the ad for MAX Workouts … I started reading, and my life changed forever …
About myself: I have a sedentary job, I was born in Italy and emigrated to the US more than thirthy years ago, and I like good Italian food … you add these three things together and you can imagine that I have been overweight all my life, always trying to shed a few (or a lot) of pounds from my waist line. Exercising has always been a struggle: not enough results to keep me motivated, not enough time to do it, due to a busy work schedule, and a sort of a “workaholic” attitude. All of this prevented me from finding the right balance between a good diet and a good fitness program to achieve my fitness goals.
I always liked a little bit of sport, but I am always been practicing below my technical ability, due to the lack of fitness. The sport I like the most is skiing (downhill, mind you, forget cross country), and in recent years, even though I have very good technique and can manage my effort easily, I found it more and more difficult to enjoy it, because my muscles were hurting so much that it took the enjoyment away. In any case, this has always been a once or twice a year vacation break, lasting no more than 3-4 days each time.
I also like biking. However the roads around here are so hilly that I could only ride in a 5-6 miles radius around my home, in order to avoid “impossible” climbs.
Enter MAX Workouts:
When I started reading MAX Workouts, I found it so intriguing and “counterintuitive”, at least as far as my intuition allowed me at that time, that I felt it could really be the answers to the endless years of trying to achieve good fitness without fully and permanently succeeding. And I now believe it is the answer!
The advantage on my side was that I already owned a fairly complete weight set at home. My kids, Andrew and Stephen, now 26 and 24, both experienced an overweight teenager life, as it is fairly common in US middle class families, but decided on their own to improve their fitness. They bought the set, started lifting and exercising, and achieved great results. They are now both on their own, but for sure their experience has been a motivator for me, even though I am 35 years older than they are.
So, on 12/30/2011, I took my picture, stated my goals in writing as recommended by Shin, and decide to begin my quest for real fitness.
The first few days were a struggle, just to figure out the exercise names, associate them with the proper form and establishing what I could REALLY do at my age and with basically zero fitness level … then after the first week, my muscles were hurting and my knees were “screaming” so much, that I felt I could not exercise anymore at the level that was required by the program. Something had to be done …
So I logged into MAX Workout Club and I “discovered” that I wasn’t the only one who could not do pushups or pull-ups and had unbearable hurt all over my body, especially my knees. I also discovered the solution, which is the simple stretching and icing recommended after exercising. I think Shin should put a little more emphasis on this in the program and avoid a lot of panic by a lot of people …
So the pain was reasonably under control and I could continue the program. I bought the pipe for rolling, but I found it too hard. I recently bought a special mixed hard plastic and foam roll, which promises to be very helpful.
At the same time I started getting ideas from Shin’s book “Lean Body Diet” and I must say that it has been a life changing experience, as much as the 90 days exercise program. As I mentioned above, being Italian and loving Italian food, I could never eat any protein, without eating some bread with it: it was the way I had been brought up. Pasta was my preferred dish, and it probably still is, but the difference is that I don’t NEED pasta or bread anymore. This is because of vegetables and berries, as Shin recommends.
I have always heard that eating lots of vegetables and fruits was good for you, and, again, coming from an Italian background, I always thought that I was having enough of it … how wrong …!!! My fruits intake was one fruit after lunch and dinner (practically no berries or melons, though), maybe a juice in the morning and some “side vegetable”, like a salad or a little bit of cooked or raw vegetables, like broccoli, zucchini, green beans etc.
Well, what Shin tells you is that you need to turn this regimen upside down, and make sure that fruits (especially berries) and vegetables are the primary food, and everything else revolves around it, just to complete your protein and fat intake. After you sit at the table for the first few days with an enormous amount of berries or vegetable in front of you, you think: ”How the heck am I going to eat all this stuff? Will I feel full after I do?”
And the amazing thing is that the more you do it, the more you taste the goodness and exceptional flavor of these natural foods. At the same time, getting so much fiber content into your body keeps away the hunger and practically ELIMINATES the need for refined carbs, which was so prevalent for me until I started this diet program. The result is that following this diet is EXTREMELY easy, it really becomes second nature and changes your eating habits for good.
Current results: I am now at the end of my Level 3, after 9 weeks of changing my life with MAX Workouts and these are the results:
Measurements:
Chest 45 - 42.25
Waist 45 - 43.25
Thigh L 23 - 23
Thigh R 23 - 23
Arm L 11.5 - 10.75
Arm R 12.5 - 11
Neck 16.25 - 16
Weight 212 - 193
Fat% 32 - 28.5
While these are obviously GREAT numerical results (18 pounds lost in just over 2 months!) they don’t even come close to underlying the pleasure of looking at yourself in the mirror every morning and enjoying it, or feeling the energy in your body, just walking around, or the overall well being and concentration ability that I have gained during these two months.
×I took before photo at 9 of January and After photo 24 of March….it’s 11 weeks, but it’s because 25 of March I went away for job and I will stay away for almost two weeks….so I thought it’s better to take one week before a photo than one week after of 12 weeks.
My MAX Workout program I did 12 weeks…and I think for me I will continue to do it…..
My name is Liene Tamamace. I am 33 years old and I come from Italy. And I am happy to tell you that my 12 weeks MAX Workout program is over, but it does not mean that I want to stop here. MAX Workouts has changed my life and even my relationship with my husband.
I wasn’t at all skeptical about MAX Workouts, but I wasn’t sure if I was the right person to try it because my life style was very chaotic…not so much about workouts, but more about diet. Before I started the program I didn’t remember when was the last time I cooked and ate at home. For many years I was always ate out at restaurants and highway bars…vegetables???? I even didn’t know “what it tasted like”!!?? I didn’t know what It meant to sleep more than 4 hours a night.
But I really needed to change something in my life…so…I tried it.
First two weeks I felt really like a balloon, I felt blown up. I think it’s because I never ate so much vegetables and a fruits before, but than from week to week I felt better and better…
And now after 12 weeks I feel me really gooooooooood. Thanx MAX Workouts.

Before I started MAX Workouts I felt that I was falling apart and my hormones were out of control. I was out of shape and felt unattractive. When I was pregnant with my 2nd child I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism also known as under-active thyroid, is a condition in which the thyroid gland does not produce enough hormone. This gland is a part of the endocrine (hormone) system, and plays a major role in regulating the body’s metabolism. This affects how quickly your body burns calories. Symptoms are weight gain, fatigue, and depression just to name a few. I thought this condition would be temporary due to my pregnancy, but I was wrong. According to my endocrinologist this condition was for life.
I recall asking her if the thyroid medication would help me lose the weight I had gained from my pregnancy and her answer was “this is not a magic pill”, what kind of hope was that. I knew I was on my own and started working out with no weight loss whatsoever. It was so frustrating, yet I didn’t give up. I tried different programs dragging myself out of bed and time after time with no weight loss. I was tired of being this way and was embarrassed of how I looked since I had always been in such great shape. I was always depressed crying at night, and myself esteem was hitting rock bottom because all I would get from those who knew me was criticism over and over. It was a daily struggle and I was tired of blaming my thyroid instead of doing something about it. I came across MAX Workouts and wanted to give this program a try. I decided to make a change to end my misery. Even though I didn’t think it be possible to get back in shape I knew I couldn’t let this opportunity go by.
After doing MAX Workouts I feel my life has changed. My self esteem has gone up and I’ve gained back my confidence that I had been lacking for a long time. I no longer cry about my weight and have turned my life around to being the person I once was who won’t take no for an answer and being able to accomplish anything I want. I’ve lost weight and inches, have more energy and strength. My muscles are getting noticed once again. Now I just want to help inspire women who also have hypothyroidism not to give up on their weight loss. Let them know there is hope and they can succeed just like I did. All that is needed is to have a will and make a commitment to change. If you want something go get it.
What I liked about MAX Workouts is how everyone keeps each other motivated. Thank you Shin for always answering my questions and for giving me the knowledge on how to eat healthy. I liked the way you wrote the books making them simple and easy to follow. Once again I just want to express my sincere gratitude for helping me change my life not just physically but emotionally as well. Thanks Coach for everything and keep up the good work.
×Before starting this program, I was in relatively good shape. I was exercising at least 6 days a week and doing both cardio and weights. However, over the past year or so, I had been feeling so unmotivated to get up and work out. (I’m married, have four kids, and work full time, so the only time I could dedicate time to myself was before everyone woke up, meaning I had to get up at nearly 4:30 in the morning to do my workout then get myself and my kids ready before 7:30 AM!) I was spending about an hour an half or so working out. There were days when I felt like I could cry if I had to run another 45 minutes on the treadmill and then do another 45 minutes of lifting. I was going through the motions doing it- mainly to “get it done”, not because I wanted to do it or I felt like it was making a difference. I had even increased my workout time because I was seeing no progress in terms of weight loss or increased strength or definition. It was frustrating in so many ways seeing no results and giving up both time and sleep to try to get in more work-out time. I also ate relatively healthy (or so I thought!) I ate a diet low in fat but didn’t really watch or limit carbohydrate or sugar intake.
Then, one day, I was so fed up with my workout routines that I began researching on-line for a new workout program that might spark some sort of new-found motivation for me when I came across MAX Workouts. I read about the program and became immersed reading everything about it. I literally had tears in my eyes because I felt as though Shin was talking directly to me in so many ways (regarding work out time, intensity, diet, etc.) It hit me like a bolt of lightning, so I had to order the program! I started the next week following the workout program and the diet plan (as best as I could.) I will admit that it was hard at first. I was skeptical and afraid that LESS workout time would send me backwards instead of forwards in terms of progress. I almost felt guilty sleeping in later (because I didn’t have to get up nearly as early because my workout time was more than cut in half!) I also had to adjust my diet. No more cereal and bagels in the morning…it was a breakfast high in protein, and yes, sensible fat! I ate more vegetables and definitely watched my carbohydrate intake, especially from bread and starchy food products - which I realized was more than 75% of my diet! Within weeks, I could see myself transforming in terms of definition. The scale itself wasn’t really moving, but the number on the scale didn’t matter, because I could visibly see myself taking on a new, more improved shape. I lost inches, gained a renewed sense of confidence, felt happier and more energetic than I did in so long (this program does wonders for the spirit), and I felt stronger than ever! I had people complimenting me on my arms every time I wore sleeveless shirts. It was a great feeling.
What I liked most about the program was how easy it was to follow. I liked the shorter, more intense workouts and the program itself was easy to read and understand from the workout explanations to the diet plan. It all just “makes sense” when you think about it. I completed the program and am in the midst of doing it again for the second round. I can’t see myself going back to anything else! Thank you, Shin Ohtake!
Sincerely,
Kim from Pennsylania

I was searching for an online source of workouts that incorporated cardio/strength training (combined), circuits, complexes, compound exercises and interval training and came across an ad for MAX Workouts. It seemed to be just what I was looking for and after reading more and learning that it incorporated 20 minute high intensity workouts I knew this was what I was looking for and the ability to be efficient and get it done in under 30 minutes was icing on the cake! With a reasonable price and money back guarantee I ordered the materials on the spot and was impressed with what Shin had to offer, particularly on diet.
I have previously completed P90X a couple of times and got good results but don’t have 60-90 minutes a day to workout and found it too repetitive and overkill and wanted something different to try. I am 53 and 5’8” and have always been thin but after about age 40, I gradually put on about 25 pounds due to aging and poor eating habits and a lot of misinformation on proper diet. I lost half of that 2 years ago doing the previous program and have since maintained that weight but grown soft again. My goal was to lose another 10+ pounds (lose 1 pound per week while also adding lean muscle), get reasonably close to a flat stomach, regain my muscle definition and add some size, correct my borderline high fasting blood sugar levels and blood lipid levels and get off my statin drug by eating properly.
After reading Shin’s dietary guidelines I was inspired to learn more and correlate what he had to say and I read 4 more books on eating lower carb, correcting metabolic syndrome and getting your metabolism and hormones working properly. My eyes were opened to the current science and I hope to use this knowledge to help my wife and kids as well and get the entire family eating for better overall health. My father died of a heart attack at age 50 and my younger brother has already had two heart attacks and bypass surgery and I have twin boys that are only 10 years old so I am motivated to get and stay healthy for many years and I refuse to slowly deteriorate with aging like most other people! I also hope to inspire my wife to follow in my footsteps. I have more energy, stamina and self confidence than I have had in years and look forward to going to the pool with my kids and looking better than guys 20 years younger.

I turned 40 this year. I have never been really fat, but for most of my life I have been trying to lose weight. I knew all about eating healthy and have tried various food regiments, including eating macrobiotic, vegetarian, vegan and raw.
In the past few years I also started exercising more, doing a lot of aerobics, exercise machine training and lately running. At one point I was running one hour every day, which brought on problems with my back, but never made me lose one gram of fat! I was working so hard, but to no avail. I was frustrated.
When I came across MAX Workouts, I decided to give it a try. One last try.
Getting into the workout routine wasn’t so hard for me, because I had been doing so much more (time-wasting) exercising before.
I also started using a diet journal app to control my food intake and portion sizes. I realized that I may have eaten far too much – even of the “good” stuff - in the past. The nutrient patterning was also a revelation for me! Finally it all made sense.
When I started on MAX Workouts, I lost 3 kg in the first 2 weeks. This was unheard of! Over the past 20 years I hadn’t managed to lose ANY weight even though I was exercising more than anybody I knew!
In total, I lost more than 8 kg over the 12 weeks challenge.
I could feel that I had built up muscle, but didn’t feel like my body shape had changed that much. I took those “after” photos anyway. When I compared them with the “before” photos, I got quite a (positive!) shock! You could actually see a difference after all!
I am continuing to exercise following the Daily Workouts. I now really miss my workout if I cannot stick to my routine owing to work or travel commitments. I may never be “skinny”, but I am definitely stronger now!

I’ve never been a very active person. My parents never really exercised and followed down the music path for most of my teen years. I was always a little chubby and before I was 12 I was already skipping meals and “dieting” to try and feel happy about my image. My real battle began at age 15 when I had a breakdown and was prescribed a very high dose of antidepressants. This wreaked havoc on my body and resulted in a suppressed immune system, slow metabolism, and a 20kg weight gain. I’ve been struggling ever since to get it off and get my body back to the way it should be.
My fitness journey began around 5 years in Tokyo. My confidence levels hit rock bottom and so I decided that I had the money so why not hit the gym and hire a personal trainer. I loved the motivation I had and the accountability a trainer provided. I managed to drop around 12kg in the 2 years I was with him but boy was it hard work. Surrounded by so many skinny people who couldn’t understand why I was taking so long to shed so little weight. At this point, my perception of training was the standard 3 sets of 15 reps and long and boring cardio. I felt great and loved doing group classes but secretly I was still longing for a better body.
Unfortunately, I had to move for my work and just couldn’t find a gym that I enjoyed. But I tried. I worked through two 12-week challenges with a trainer and ended up gaining weight!!! (><) I still had to do long and boring cardio but that was unbelievably difficult as I was still doing the standard 3 sets, 15 reps but with one rep taking 20 seconds to complete. I was made to take a food journal and the trainer told me I had to try harder to eat more food but he never really mentioned what were the best food for me and my needs. Needless to say, I was very disillusioned with the fitness industry and quit the gym. I had been such a big part of my life for 3 years. I was a little crazy and trained 6 days a week for an average of 3 hours a day.
I then decided to workout from home and this seemed to work OK but there was something missing – excitement and intensity. That’s when I saw an ad for MAX Workouts (MW) and moved through the 90-day program and the daily online workouts. Having known nothing but long and boring workouts, I was incredibly skeptical but I figured it wasn’t that expensive and I had nothing to lose if I didn’t like it. At worst, nothing would change. At best, maybe I would lose some weight and gain some strength. Fast forward 10 months and here we after at the finish line of the 12 week transformation.
When I started this journey 12 weeks ago, it was truly a transformation challenge rooted I wanted the drop dead gorgeous body so I could feel sexy, win the guy, and live happily ever after. Yet, life seldom runs the course we desire. I didn’t make my goal (lose 10kg) and I didn’t get the guy, but I did make a total transformation.

Not the most earth shattering results but enough that I’ve dropped about one dress size at least. But getting here was no small feat. As I mentioned, I did the 90-day program and had been doing the daily workouts but nothing much changed. I was able to improve my overall fitness but I just couldn’t drop the weight. The reason being, I still had the mindset that standard training styles were best and that somehow I could out-train my nutrition choices. Little guidance from trainers and the words of the diet industry led me to believe that it was OK to consume wholewheat bread, white rice, soy products, and corn products. Although I loved salads and protein, I wasn’t going to give up my toast and vegemite for breakfast no matter what Shin said. He was just some random guy on the internet.
Then…the transformation began. I started the transformation challenge and cleaned up my diet a lot compared to the past but the scale just wouldn’t budge. I was trying so hard but I felt like I was going to fail again despite what I thought were my best efforts. So then I began to read, read, read, and read some more. I soon came to realise that I couldn’t get results without address the nutrition component. It was time to transform my knowledge, mindset, habits, and kitchen. I was surprised at how liberating it was to detoxify my kitchen. If it had more than one ingredient, it went in the bin. I’m slowly changing over to organic where possible. I even went as far as to replace all toxic plastic containers with glass. I now have a rule that if I don’t make, I don’t eat it. Even on my “cheat days” I still make my own meals by buying the fresh ingredients needed.
As my body became stronger I started to out-grow my basic home gym and treadmill and I’ve slowly had to build up my available weights. I can now finally do 10 real push-ups and 8-10 burpees with push-ups. I love that I could get these result without having to spend hours slogging it out in the gym. But the best part was the cardio. I had running for long periods. My body can handle it but my mind couldn’t take the boredom. The MW HIIT workouts enabled me to get a cardio session in without the dullness of counting down the minutes. That, and I found it easier to push myself by saying “just one more round” rather than “just 3 more kilometers”.
So this is just the first step in transforming my body. I started by transforming my mindset and habits, and hopefully I will build the strong framework needed to transform my life and my body. I’m excited about the journey that is ahead of me.
Even though we think we are motivated, it’s often not until we are faced with a direct challenge that we dare to step up and fully embrace the obstacle course in front of us. Thank you to MW for providing me the challenge to take action and transform my life.
My goal for this contest was to lose my remaining “baby weight” after having my ninth child in September 2012. I achieved my goal losing 7 pounds and 4 3/4 inches. I became interested in MAX Workouts after asking a guy at the gym about where he got his workouts. I had noticed he would actually sweat and was short of breath during his workouts!! He referred me to MAX Workouts. After visiting the website, I bought the e-books and got to work.
I love the flexibility of the workouts. I can do them at home or the gym. My older kids sometimes joined me in the “fun.” I don’t have much extra time in my day so a 30-40 minute workout is ideal for me! I not only lost pounds and inches but my overall strength improved. This was most evident in my ability to now do 1 pull-up unassisted!! I plan to continue using MAX Workouts to maintain my body weight, increase my strength and improve my overall health!

The last three years have been a huge challenge for me both personally and professionally. At the age of fifty, I lost my business, my home and my self respect. My health suffered, my cholesterol levels rocketed and I felt constantly physically and mentally exhausted.
My body fat percentage worked out at a dangerous 36.7% which took me hugely by surprise but my apple shape has me constantly struggling with belly fat which I conveniently put down to hormones and genetics. Short of starving myself, the belly remained.
Now aged 54, I realised something had to change, if I was going to restore my health and self respect then that something or someone was me. I also realized no one was going to do it for me. I couldn’t afford a gym membership anymore, so I dusted off a pair of old dumbbells, brought out my speed jump rope, downloaded the Gymboss app and sat down to record my weight and measurements and organize my MAX Workouts 90 day challenge.
It has been a challenging but enjoyable journey and I have learned a lot. Shin is an excellent mentor, his knowledge and expertise in his field foster trust and respect and his ability to put this forward to his students in a simple and easily understood way is a real skill. I look forward to receiving his emails which always seem to arrive at the right time with the right subject matter just when you might be flagging a bit and need that boost! I did fall off the wagon a couple of times and didn’t always keep to the diet, but I got right back on and kept going.
I still have a way to go but my body fat percentage is now down to 26%, my cholesterol levels have dropped and that all happened in the first four weeks! I have lost 4 inches from my waist and 2 inches from my hips where i needed it most. My overall weight loss is a modest 7 lbs but I feel so much better and stronger. Friends remark on how toned I look and clothes fit where they should.
I intend to continue with MAX Workouts. I’ve even bought friends a MAX Workouts as a gift and they too are now setting themselves a challenge because they can see that I’m proof it works.

About four years ago, I took a job opportunity which relocated my life from Southern California to Sydney, Australia. That decision changed everything. I met “Mr. Right” (he was my new manager’s step-son!), we got married and now I’m living in Sydney, happily ever after.
But life in transition wasn’t always a fairytale. With all the drastic changes came a lot of stress, and I would often turn to the one thing that always brought me a sense of comfort: FOOD. Except I wasn’t choosing healthy food. I ate junk and LOTS of it. I would find myself escaping into large cups of iced coffee shakes, french fries, banana bread, and toasted ham & cheese sandwiches. And when I felt really down, I would often bake to cheer myself up with cookies and brownies. I was basically living the polar opposite of the Lean Body Diet!! Yikes.
I didn’t realize what I was doing to myself because it was all happening so gradually. Then one day, I saw a photo from one of our holiday trips, and I did not recognise myself. I looked like a sad, fat little chipmunk. That’s when I decided it was time to make a change. Years ago, I had a personal trainer, and I remembered how he always made me lift weights. So I started looking online for a program that incorporated strength training and free weights. That’s when I found out about Shin’s MAX Workouts.
The more of Shin’s articles I read about fat and why it’s critical for women to lift heavy, the more I was convinced this would work. There’s just so much crap advice out there about weight loss, nutrition, what works, what doesn’t, and it can start to feel really overwhelming and confusing—but when I read about the MAX Workouts program and what it involved, it all made sense. It was honest, straight up information, and I knew all I needed to do was follow it.
So in March 2011, I finally purchased MAX Workouts. Unfortunately when I started, I wasn’t prepared to fully commit to all of the changes it required. I ended up doing 80% of the workouts, and about 5% of the Lean Body Diet. Surprisingly, I still saw results, but they were minimal. I didn’t realise how long it would take for me to change mentally—and by that, I mean give up my bad eating habits, deal with the issues that were causing it, and change my lifestyle for good. That process took about two years. Fast forward to April 2013…I’d been going to the gym 3-5 times a week and eating healthier. The changes were happening but I wanted to accelerate my progress. And that’s when I remembered I had MAX Workouts. I told myself that this time around, I would commit to it 100%—no excuses. I was looking forward to seeing what could happen if I actually pushed myself.
Then I received the email about the upcoming contest so I decided to enter. I started MAX Workouts for the second time on May 20, 2013. I compared my stats (weights/reps/rounds) from the first time I did the program, and I was shocked to see how much I had changed since 2011. I could lift heavier (used 12.5kg weights instead of 5kg), and I felt stronger and more energetic. I also noticed how my body felt lighter because of what I was feeding it this time around—real food! I even felt bit more flexible which I didn’t expect. My husband bought me a PVC pipe from the hardware supply store, and the rolling exercises actually did help my muscles recover more quickly!
I’m still on my journey, but I’m really excited to know that this program has helped me change for the better. It’s challenging and fun, especially as a woman. It makes you feel strong and quite honestly, a little bit gangster every time you lift. There’s something empowering about lifting. I’m a bit surprised at how strong I actually am! And I liked how the routines changed every day, so I never got bored.
If anyone out there is like me and wondering if it’s worth a try, I encourage you to just go for it. You’ll surprise yourself! Big thanks to Shin for your honest advice and your kickbutt program. I’m a firm believer in MAX.

I am 51 yrs old and I am considering this a progress report and not an end of a program. Some of the things that you don’t see is the main reasons I started your program. I have always been fairly active and thought of myself as being healthy. I didn’t take on your program with the goal of losing weight even though I have dropped about 19 lbs since getting your program. I had to have a physical for health insurance last year that included a blood test. I needed to pass 4 out of 6 benchmarks in order to qualify for a reduced rate on my premium. To my surprise I did not pass. I needed to get 2 more of the six to pass and get about $1000.00 off my premiums for the year. That’s when I started to follow MAX Workouts and the Lean Body Diet. I cut way back on the sugar as well as the carbs. And in the end I was able to cut my triglycerides in half and lowered my blood sugar level into a good range. You have already helped me add a $1000.00 to my bottom line in insurance savings. I can’t put a value on the improved blood-work. All without any meds!

My husband John (43 years old) has just finished your 12 week program and has had some great results! He started at 93 kg and has dropped to a lean 81.5 kg!
His original motivation was to get his elevated blood pressure down and that dropped within 2 weeks of regular exercise but also cutting down his alcohol intake has gone hand in hand with the program. He realizes that after you have just worked your butt off it’s not worth drinking that beer. Now he enjoys a cup of tea (shock horror!) and leaves the amber liquid for a weekend treat.
I must say, the results from your program are very fast and effective. He has more energy and can now keep up with the younger guys on the motorbike track!
The only downside is we now have to buy a new clothes as everything is falling off him…and he hates shopping!
As a personal trainer myself, I found your style of training most beneficial—it’s fast, fun and effective and I love it! I wouldn’t train any other way. So keep up the great work and we will be tuning in to your site.
Regards,
John and Linda Zanolini

I am 46 years old and have always been reasonably fit. I really enjoy running. I have tried all sorts of weight training in the past and have spent a fair amount of money on things and supplements that did not work.
You need to know that I am a “skinny” guy and I believe what is known in the fitness world as a “hard gainer”. Putting on the right kind of weight has always been my goal. Every single other programmme I have tried, I have ended up with just about the same measurements except I always gain a fat and bulging stomach – which is really annoying.
However Shin’s programme, although never actually mentioning weight gain (which I know is a rare goal in today’s weight reduction world) has helped me achieve results I could never have imagined. Of course I sympathize with and support all those folks who are trying to lose weight, but for me putting on the right kind of weight has been impossible until I started Shin’s programme.
I know to all those people out there that are trying to lose weight, me gaining 5lbs in weight and 3.6 inches overall of muscle may not seem too impressive – but as a hard gainer, I am so happy. I have also lost 3.5 inches from my waist and reduced my body fat by an amazing 3.1%
I know the MAX Workouts programme has worked for me, where others have failed, because not only are the weight training days using so much of the body and it really is hard work, but the healthy eating tips are brilliant. I have never bothered too much with my diet before because gaining a few pounds was always so difficult.
But with the help of the Lean Body Diet and the emphasis of lower intakes of Carbohydrates – this has helped me gain 5lbs (and I’m guessing this is all muscle) and lose 3.1% body fat. I have to be honest and say that at the weekends I ate pretty much what I liked, but as I got further through the programme, I even started to feel a bit guilty at my “eat what you want” on Saturday and Sunday. So in the 2nd half of the programme I usually had just one “cheat” day.
I have been very impressed with my strength gains as well. I have nearly doubled my dumbbell weights since starting and can squat an extra 45 lbs on day 90 compared to day 1.
I am now feeling the fittest I have for many years and I may finally and consistently be adding muscle to my now not so skinny frame. Just one further positive example is that I went skiing (I live in beautiful Slovakia) when I was only 6 weeks in to the programme. I am only a beginner, but this time I found I had so much more strength and aerobic fitness. My body felt strong and able to cope so much better with the inevitable falls. The next day I had no soreness or aches, where before I would have been hobbling around in agony.
I am really looking forward to continuing with Max Workouts and hope that other hard gainers who are sceptical about being able to gain muscle weight will feel positive and use the programme like me. I also need to go out and buy some more weights as I’m finding it too easy to lift what I started off with!
Thank you Shin and I hope you can use my more unusual “putting on the right weight” experience with MAX Workouts to encourage other hard gainers.

I’m 41 years old, married with 2 wonderful little boys. Fitness and physical training was introduced to me at a young age. I remember my father taking my big brother and me to karate lessons. He thought teaching us self defense was very important. Looking back, I’m glad he did. We went to karate lessons on and off but later discontinued once we moved houses. After we moved, my brother and I found a kung fu place and we started from scratch there learning a different style of martial arts. We were taught by a good instructor. Someone who cared about your progress and corrected you if you were doing something wrong. He had my total respect and I will never forget him.
My brother and I moved on as things do once you enter adulthood and other things took priority. As such we stopped doing martial arts. I continued some training on my own mainly doing some weightlifting at the gym and occasionally jogging.
I think I maintained a reasonably good fitness level until about 9 years ago. “What happened 9 years ago?”, I hear you ask… Well…I got married.
Yep, and physically (and I stress “physically” and almost nothing else) things started going south for me from then on. My training became less frequent and my diet went out the window. Weight crept up on me and before I knew it I was obese (according to my BMI).
Over the past 9 years, I’ve tried to get back to where I was. I mostly tried to do it on my own without reference to anything except my own past experience. Although I was using the same workouts that I had learnt, I was training harder than before I got married. But that didn’t work. There was something fundamentally wrong with what I was doing and I couldn’t work it out. I was struggling.
My feet and joints hurt. I remembered before when I was in shape, my feet didn’t hurt. I missed that. I missed that feeling so much. The feeling of being light on your feet and being able to do things.
About the middle of last year, I stumbled on a website that promised that I could lose weight and get in shape in 12 weeks. I was keen to do this program. It sounded good so I went out and bought the equipment that I needed to do it. After a few weeks, my little garage became my gym and I commenced the program.
I followed it to the letter and 6 weeks went by with little or no progress. I was still hurting and overweight. I followed not only the workouts but also the diet that the program recommended. I gained some strength but as far as my shape and weight…well they stayed pretty much the same. So I stopped the program.
Towards the end of last year I found MAX Workouts. At first I was skeptical because of what I went through. I decided to subscribe to get the information and then decide whether or not to continue after I had seen it.
The thing that impressed me was Shin. He reminded me a lot of my instructor. His mature and caring approach and humility. The information he gives. You can tell that he has put a lot of time and research into everything you read on his website. The videos are fantastic and I have referred to them often in doing this transformation contest.
I started the contest on Wednesday 11 January 2012 and finished on Wednesday 28 March 2012 (12 weeks later). Did I follow the program to the letter? Answer: I tried.
My first few workouts, I couldn’t finish. They were killers. My legs and thighs really hurt and you feel as though it’s impossible. But I didn’t give up. I decided to listen to Shin.
The answers to problems that you have are on the website, in the emails that he sends to you during this contest. About 6 weeks ago my wife fractured her foot. I had to stop the program for few days. I didn’t know whether I was going to continue. My wife became immobile and she couldn’t help out at home. Everything fell on my shoulders. The washing, the cooking, the shopping, the cleaning and don’t forget the kids! I was going to give up and you know what made not give up? It was an email from Shin. Just one of the emails that he sends to everyone during the contest. Just noticing that Shin was the sender of that email was enough to lift me and find a way to continue the program.
How have I finished the program? Well, I feel like a wimp because I still can’t lift the weights that Shin recommends men should be lifting for certain exercises. But you know what, Shin also says you shouldn’t be killing yourself but enjoying your workout…and that’s the advice that I tend to lean towards. If I can’t lift the weight and do the amount of reps recommended, I just drop it and use my bodyweight to at least finish the exercise. If I cant keep up with the cardio, I go slower to finish.
The main thing which has stuck with me from Shin’s advice is push yourself. Keep pushing yourself and keep away from plateaus.
In terms of size here are my before and after measurements:
Waist: 42—> 36
Chest: 41—> 40.5
Hips: 40.5—> 39
Thigh: 22—> 22
Arm: 13—> 13
Weight: 185 lbs—> 163 lbs
How do I feel now? I feel that my journey has not ended here. I don’t want to stop but want to see how far I can go…I feel that I can still improve from the level I’m at. Yes i definitely feel lighter. My feet and joints have stopped hurting me. I have dropped a few sizes in clothes. Pants that I haven’t worn since before I was married fit me now. I can definitely do a lot more things than what I could 12 or so weeks ago.
Thank you Shin. Sincerely with all my heart, you have helped me find my life again.
John
I’ve been a believer in Shin’s MAX Workouts program for a couple of years now. I love it because the workouts are short and intense which fits my schedule, and they don’t take any fancy or expensive equipment. I also noticed that the Lean Body Diet works and is enjoyable. There’s a hump to get over if you’re used to eating tons of carbs and sugar like I was, but now that I’m in the groove, I really like it, it’s easy, and it really does blowtorch fat off my body.
Anyway, I went through the program once, not completely consistent, and lost several pounds of fat and got stronger. And for the first time, my wife told me I looked “hot”. That’s pretty cool. After I finished the 12 week program I veered off for a while and got into a workout rut and gained some pounds back and got a little flabby again.
When the 2012 contest came up and I voted. I was impressed with the transformations and motivated to get back in the groove. So, I decided to enter the 2013 contest to challenge myself and see what I really could do in 12 weeks. The first 6 weeks I lost so much fat so fast my wife and parents thought I looked too skinny! So I increased calories quite a bit and started building muscle.
My goals were to get a 6-pack, lose about 10 pounds, and get stronger. I’ve never had a 6-pack in my life, not even in high school or college sports.
Now, I’ve got a semblance of a 6-pack for the first time, my strength and stamina are much better. I’m progressing nicely in the workouts and my whole body feels better (I had several aches and pains for 25 years from an eleven-bones-broken car wreck when I was 25) and I lost the pounds I wanted to lose.
I will be working out and eating this way as a lifestyle and I’m thankful to Shin for sharing this life-changing opportunity. I wish I had known this stuff 35 years ago – my whole life would have been much different. But it’s never too late!

Before taking on the MaxWorkout 90 day program I was reaching towards 100kg which I never was at before. With the arrival of my firstborn, it seemed that I was the one gaining the weight and not my wife, the good life I guess. My cholesterol level was at 220 which was at a high level, once again, I love eating but there are consequences if you dont execrcise or eat correctly. I was always in good shape but let my self go over the last couple of years and the kilos kept on slowly adding on.
I decided to do the 90 day workout because I didnt have access to a gym and could only use my home garage. The workouts also seemed interesting and most importantly, quick. There is only a few hours left in the day with a little one to look after, so I thought that this was the right workout for me.
I could note that after the 1st week of training that my body muscles would twitch, which meant that something good was happening. As the weeks rolled on, I would get that bit stronger and within the first 3 weeks I lost 2 kilos! Sure there were times that I was tired, but I would do something light rather than miss a session. By the end of the workout I lost 5 kilos and my core body strength was phenomenal. I would get comments from my neighbours and colleagues of how good I looked!

I started the program when I realized I was really overweight because my clothes started not to fit, my belly was too big, I wasn’t identifying myself in the pictures and the people started to ask me if I was pregnant again. Before I started I had worked for one year in a very stressful job, many hours per day, with shifts by night, so I got used to eat a lot of bread, crisps or pasta when I arrived home. I also had a daughter in 2009, and all the people was blaming that, saying that it was my pregnancy fault, but I knew it wasn’t true because I went thinner after the birth, how I was before, I just started to put weight 2 years after my daughter birth. After the program I could laugh those commentaries because I was in better shape than before I was pregnant.
I asked for help to my sister because she was finished a personal trainer course and she recommended me The MAX Workouts program. At the time she couldn’t do me a program. It was not very hard to convince me because I am a veterinarian and I knew that what Shin was saying on the emails were true because I also studied it, I just didn’t applied on me, just on my patients. Everything is absolutely so true and it is easy for me to understand because I studied like Shin also biochemistry, physiology, anatomy, medicine, nutrition, etc.
I couldn’t wait to start, but I wait to receive all the first 5 emails and then I bought the books. I started first the diet alone and only with that I lost 2 Kg, 3 weeks before I started the program. So, in reality i started with 59Kg.
I was very restrict with the diet and the workouts, I stopped to eat all junk food, bread, pasta, cookies, etc. It was not very hard because I like very much vegetables, fruit and meat, and I was happy to know that I didn’t need to eat food made with flour.
I started to lift dumbbells with 4.5kg, it seemed at the beginning so heavy, but at the end I was lifting 9kg each dumbbell.
I need to stop 2 weeks at the middle because I get injured in one foot while I was jumping rope. I never jumped rope again, I started to run instead. But also during this period I lost weight.
The clothes started to become big and I started to buy smaller clothes, I started with the number 40 or 38 for trousers and M for tops and I finished with the 34 and XS.
After I finished the program I continued with the daily workouts and I achieve the 48kg, and I am more strong than ever. I think this is really my ideal weight and shape because is how I look good, and I am really small, my bones are small and thin.
I improved my health, my confidence, I feel prettier, I stopped to worry about my belly, my energy and my strength increased, I can easily pick up my 4 years old daughter and sometimes one of my patients when I am working, my body looks amazing.
What I did like most about MAX Workouts was that I can do at home what is easier when we have a child, the short periods of time, I don’t depend over gyms, I don’t lose my time in gyms so, I have more time to be with my daughter and I am self sufficient to do my workouts and to plan my diet.
I am very happy with the MAX Workouts, now I stabilize my weight and I continue doing the workouts 3 times per week. I recommend to everyone.

After leaving school I started gaining weight due to lack of exercise. The weight crept on slowly that I didn’t notice how big I had actually become. I tried MANY different diets and exercise regimes but none worked very well. I happened to come across the MAX Workouts program and found that everything I believed about food and diet was completely wrong. In the past diets were hard, I was always hungry, irritable and tired. Now on this program, the eating plan fits me perfectly. I’m not longer starving or craving food I shouldn’t have. The workouts are my favorite. In the past I’ve always enjoyed intense exciting activities such as sport and martial arts. But after putting on weight I was too embarrassed to start those again. Going to the gym for 2 hours a day was just plain boring and there were very little results. Now with short intense workouts, they are great fun and I can workout from the comfort of my home. I have so much more energy and am starting to see some results. I still have a long ways to go, but at least I feel hope now.
Thank you Shin, you are a lifesaver!

Before beginning MAX Workouts, I was in probably the worst shape of my life. I could barely run a quarter mile before being completely out of breath, and I was always tired. Having no energy was probably the worst because I needed to be able to keep up with my busy schedule. I am a second year Doctor of Physical Therapy student, a wife, a mom to two Rottweiler puppies, and a part-time wedding photographer. This schedule left me little time to work-out. Then I found MAX Workouts online and figured I could fit these workouts in to my schedule.
With PT school and life stresses, my blood pressure rose into the unsafe range of 150/100 and I was put on a diuretic in an attempt to lower it. The diuretic didn’t do much so the dose was upped. After completing just four weeks of the program, my average blood pressure is now a wonderful 116/76 and I am able to discontinue the diuretic. Now that I have completed the 12 week program, I have lost a total of 16 pounds and 18.75 inches. My BMI went from the overweight category at 25.5 to the normal range at 23.0. My posture has also improved by strengthening my back muscles. We went on vacation this summer with my husband’s family, and I felt confident wearing my swimsuit for the first time in a long time.
I am now almost back down to the size I was when I got married and am looking forward to completing another round of the MAX Workouts to accomplish this goal. I loved that Shin had each workout designed to work multiple body parts at once to save time; I didn’t spend more than 30 minutes on any day. I also liked that I didn’t have to spend time trying to decide what workout to do on my own. I now have workouts to turn to for life. My biggest problem now that I’ve completed MAX Workouts is that all of my pants are too big! I now feel I look like what my husband has always said he saw when looking at me.
×As I said it is not as dramatic a change as a short person losing a lot of weight. I lost 10 pounds, but put on muscle, my subcutaneous fat is pretty much gone. I went from a size 10 1/2 to an 8, and can now do three unsupported pullups 😊....working for 10! I am 6’ tall, so the results don’t look as drastic as they feel.
Most important to me is that I have increased my running speed by 10 minutes over 10Km in just three months (just doing the cardio workouts)....which is a very big increment, for those who aren’t runners. The dietary changes have totally increased my energy levels and general health…and as a single mother of three, working full time, going back to school full time…that is also a very big deal for me. I love MAX Workouts and recommend them to anyone who asks how I stay so fit.
While visiting my brother in Mpls recently, I joined him for a “boot camp” workout at his gym. He is 10 years younger than I am and does the hour long workout they offer three times a week….by the end of the class (14 participants) I was the only one still able to move and I was just starting to warm up!! 😊
Keep up the good work…and thank you!
×I have always been a “Big Guy”, I used to be 310 lbs and I was slowly losing weight over the last couple years. Then I hit a wall stayed at the same weight of between 225-230 lbs. I lost inspiration to workout because I had no results to show for my HOURS of hard work in the gym. I started steering away from working out because I had no results.
Then I got in a really bad head-on-collision car accident. I wasn’t able to workout for about 2 months and I was extremely depressed. But I told myself if I healed from these injuries that I would not take life for granted. Then I stumbled upon MAX Workout on the Internet.
Not only did it give me the best results I ever experience, it gave me back the energy to be active and live life to the fullest. I was no longer depressed. Unfortunately I lost my before measurements for my chest, waist, etc. but I look a lot smaller than I started.

I had always been active but I haven’t worked out with that kind of intensity in years and I wanted to see if could increase my strength and endurance. It was a definitely a challenge and well worth it. I could see that I was getting stronger from week to week. What I like most is that I can get these results in short workouts. It will be part of my lifestyle from now on.

Tadpole. That’s what I always thought I looked like. Skinny body with no muscle tone and a big belly. It’s just not right, right?
Now, those days are about to become just part of my past - bad memories.
MAX Workouts is my first attempt and commitment on lifestyle modification and based on the testimonials I have found what suits me best.
I don’t know but I just wasn’t skeptical about this program. Maybe because it IS grounded in science and research, and the group that founded this are credible. I truly believed that it will give me the body that I want.
My main goal for committing to this is my burning desire to get rid of my unsightly bellyfat. I wasn’t into building a bigger chest or stronger arms, but as I progressed into my workouts, it seemed that I wanted them too. And it’s better that way. Can’t imagine myself with a ripped torso and flabby upper body. Again, that just ain’t right.
The workouts are short and intense and no flimflam. It’s straight-at-your-face-work-til-you-drop-insane training. This is NOT for the undisciplined, unmotivated and quitters. There were times when I ask myself ‘Why am I doing this?’ and the Maxxie Me answers back ‘Because it’s for your own good. Now get up and show this workout what you’ve got!’
The results speak for themselves but it wasn’t a walk in the park for me. I had to endure the difficulty of having to repeat sets after sets of those ‘cruel’ workouts; overhaul my diet (I am Asian and practically live off on rice so it was a HUGE sacrifice to say goodbye to fluffy white rice - but there are cheat days!); and, reassure myself that I was doing it for ME and my health.
Now, the results I have gained don’t seem that drastic or great and the photos make it look so much less and I have been doing it for only 3 months. Though it’s only 3 months after I started, I am now seeing veins popping out of my arms and forearms; my pecs are getting bigger; my legs have never looked ‘meaty and tight’; my shoulders are hard as ever; and, my butt is much better to look at (these are all subjective so be NICE).
Changing my diet brought me a lot of benefits, too: I feel healthier and lighter; I don’t feel tired all the time; I have fewer breakouts; and, I feel less bloated.
And for the technicals: the online support is superb. Replies in just a few minutes! Encouragements from fellow Maxxies are a huge advantage (over people who say you can’t do it). The articles really help and made me open my eyes to what really are good for me and not.
There’s still a lot to improve on though I am NOT saying MAX Workouts didn’t do its job. It’s just that I need more time and some adjustments to what I’m doing now.
The 90-Day Challenge made me a better person. It definitely sounds cheesy but it really did. I went somewhere where I thought I would never go. I challenged myself and DEFEATED the weak ME. I also ‘almost’ cried when I finished the program! And I don’t cry over things - except for really sad movies.
Now that the challenge is over I’m in to more challenges ahead. Thank you very much MAX Workouts. You are a makeover expert - physically, mentally and emotionally.
Cheers to us!!!

My name is Jeff. I am 45 years old. I was very athletic and active in my teens and 20’s. I became less active and stopped exercising in my 30’s. By the time I was 41 I was 50 pounds overweight. This caused me a number of health issues.
In the summer of 2012 I joined a local gym with a friend. We started by walking on the treadmill and using the rowing machine. We were both intimidated by the machines and free weights. We decided to try a personal trainer. My friend died unexpectedly before we could start. I went ahead and worked with the trainer for about a month. Some of the exercises he had me doing were similar to thoses in MAX Workouts. The trainer plays football at the local university and had to take time off for that. I was unemployed at the time and couldn’t afford to hire another trainer.
I looked on line to see if I could find workouts similar to what I had started. I found MAX Workouts and decided to give it a try. I was kind of skeptical at first. I didn’t see anyone at the gym doing these exercises. I liked the idea of getting results without spending hours at the gym. I started the 90 day workout in September for the first time. I was amazed at how I improved each week. By week 6 people who knew me commented on how I looked. Shortly after I injured my leg, not related and not able to continue. This was very frustrating especially not being able to do cardio. I did loose 13 pounds in thoses 6 weeks.
After 2 months my leg had improved where I could run again. I decided to enter a 12 week challenge that my gym offered. My start date was January 7, 2013 and end date was April 1, 2013.
I restarted the 90 day MAX Workouts. This time paying close attention to the Lean Body Diet. I didn’t know if I could live without refined carbs as I had never tried.
The results were almost immediate. People I know as well as trainers at the gym were amazed at the results. I kind of felt like I was cheating. I had an unfair advantage with the diet and exercises you provided. I saw other people working out without the results I was getting.
Your e-mails have been extremely helpful and very encouraging. It seemed like whenever I had a question you already had an answer. I bragged about the information you provided that continued to make me successful.
Everyone is so amazed by the results I got in just 90 days. I feel 20 years younger and people tell me I look 10 years younger.
My goal when I started was to lose 8% body fat. People I talked to said that was unrealistic but good to have a goal. I started at 18% body fat and finished at 9.7%. I often don’t recognize myself in the mirror. I never thought I could look or feel this good.
I can’t begin to thank you for providing me with the information and encouragement to make this possible. When I did the weigh-in and measurements at 45 days, the trainer said “that isn’t even possible”, well it is!
When I started your workouts I could not do all of them. Thank you for providing modified and substitute exercises. I had moderate arthritis in my hips, back and shoulders when I started. I don’t remember the last time I had pain in any joints. I also hate doing crunches and ab exercises on my back. I haven’t done any and have had amazing results.
I don’t believe everything I read but I knew I found a gold mine after I started your workouts. Thank you so much for my new life.

I would have to say that this is my “second journey” with MAX Workouts. When I was in high school I played offensive line for our football team. That pretty much entailed getting as large as possible through diet (eating everything in sight and then a little bit more) and exercise (lifting weights for strength and size). Cardio? That wasn’t a part of my workouts; it was a punishment that I sometimes had to endure when the coach got mad during practice. By the time I graduated I weighed in at 275lbs. I decided that playing football in college wasn’t something that I wanted to pursue, so my need to be big was gone and I was determined to lose some weight.
I never liked being the “fat” kid and now I had no excuse to not try and slim down. But where do you start? It’s so overwhelming to have no prior knowledge of proper nutrition and the only working out that I had experience with was lifting a lot of weight to get big. So, in my mind food was something that you ate when you were hungry and all food was pretty much the same, just so long as you watched your calories and didn’t eat too much. Lifting was to get big and cardio was to slim down. That led me to believe that the only way for me to lose weight was to cut out calories and log some serious miles on runs.
Starting out, it worked! But after a very short time I hit a plateau and was stuck. I started to research more about nutrition and exercise. I began to learn about what foods were better options for you and that there were other ways to lean up other than just running and running and running. That’s where MAX Workouts comes in. During one of my many sessions of sifting through content online and trying to find a new workout to do I found Shin’s plan. I read through the description of it and right then and there I was sold. I ordered it right away and started it the next day.
I quickly learned that my definition of in shape and Shin’s definition were nowhere close to the same. The only word I can use to describe my initial experience with Max Workouts.. Humbling. I thought that I was in pretty decent shape but this program proved me wrong. My definition of fitness was starting to get redefined.
I stuck with it and ended up using MAX Workouts along with eating a good, healthy diet and lost about 70lbs in a little over a year’s time!
Fast forward a few years. Overall, I had maintained my original weight loss pretty well. I would fluctuate about 5 lbs here and there and ate pretty healthy but never was overly disciplined with my diet. As far as for working out, I would go to the gym but didn’t have too much direction anymore. I did go through a few phases of wanting to “bulk up” where I would eat a lot of calories and wasn’t too strict on the quality of those calories. That coupled with no real plan for workouts just ended up getting me fatter. I was starting to get stuck in a rut.
Then last year I started a new job and my wife and I had a baby. Somewhere along the line working out got shoved to the back burner behind getting a house ready for our first child and familiarizing myself at work. I could tell that the pounds where starting to sneak back on because my clothes were getting tighter and I was feeling sluggish and unmotivated.
This past New Year’s I made a friendly wager with some friends and family on who could go the longest without eating any sweets. We tried to hammer out some basic guidelines but after some “gray area” complaints by some and just plain losing by others I was the only one left standing after about 2 weeks. That’s when I got the email from Shin about the 90 day challenge. I knew my standard of nutrition had dropped dramatically and working out was almost nonexistent. It was time for a change and this could be the catalyst to getting me back on track.
My initial experience to “Round Two” of MAX Workouts was that this program is all that it says it is and more. If you stick to the plan, especially with your rest time, and put in some effort it will kick your butt like you wouldn’t believe. Even workouts that look like cake on paper will whoop you when you get to the end. Shin you are a madman but I love it!
I started off this 90 day challenge weighing in at 222lbs. That is the most I have weighed since the first time I started to lose weight over 6 years ago. The first couple weeks were brutal. I could barely walk but it was from the good pain. It was from the pain that every time it hurt it told you that you were accomplishing something and moving forward. After the initial shock of going from working out once or twice every couple of weeks I began to notice improvements. I wouldn’t get quite as sore, the running didn’t hurt quite as bad and the numbers on the scale kept getting smaller!
My goal for this challenge wasn’t just to lose some pounds. I wanted to not be ashamed of what I looked like. I wanted to get in good shape, put on useable, lean muscle and remind myself what it is to be healthy and happy about whom I am. Max Workouts helped me do that.
To say that MAX Workouts alone got me to my end result of these 90 days would be a lie. Nutrition played a huge role too! I read in a book once that “discipline begets discipline” and I believe that to be true. As I worked hard on sticking to the workouts I didn’t want to sabotage my progress with bad eating habits. After all, you cannot outwork poor nutrition. Even with MAX Workouts.
I would make a smoothie every morning that would have: almond milk, almond butter, spinach, kale, parsley, carrots, broccoli, and celery, a banana, a little bit of dry old fashioned oats, some strawberries, blueberries and protein powder. This thing was great! It sounds like it would taste absolutely horrible but I promise, you would really only taste the fruit and protein powder flavor. I hate eating vegetables so I decided that I would drink them instead. That smoothie would wake me up, give me energy and keep me full far longer than anything else I have ever had for breakfast. Lunches would be another smaller smoothie and some cottage cheese and an apple. Or I would have a spinach salad with some grilled chicken, black beans, avocado and a little bit of a salsa on top. Dinners were just a lean protein (fish, chicken or turkey) with a vegetable and the occasional sweet potato.
My other goal was to continue to cut out sweets completely. I had a couple of week’s head start from the contest with my friends but I stayed strong and went for 102 days without any refined sugar.
I also had my fair share of setbacks. I got sick for 2 weeks, had a back spasm for 4 days straight and had to travel for work a couple of times. I also had a weekly night class that made working out almost impossible that day of the week. I am actually a little upset at myself for missing so many workouts because I know that my results would have been that much better had I got in all of the workouts that I missed.
I would HIGHLY recommend MAX Workouts to anyone. Shin has it set up so that no matter where you start physically, you can always have a workout to do. It is extremely rewarding and I will continue to do Max Workouts for my fitness training as long as I can train.
I finished the 90 days weighing 196lbs, so I lost 26lbs!

×I discovered MAX Workouts while searching for ‘athletic based workouts’. I visited the site, read all the promotion material and decided I would give the program a shot.
I’ve tried a few other major fitness programs but I found MAX Workouts to be best suited for my lifestyle and me. While the other programs were successful in certain areas, the MAX Workouts program was the best overall.
It changed my overall fitness in every area. Not only did I get leaner and more flexible but I got much stronger than I anticipated. My cardio also vastly improved over the 3 months. I started the program at 181 pounds and wore a 36 inch pant. After going through the program and following the Lean Body diet, I weighed in at 158 and now I need a belt for a couple pairs of my new 30 inch jeans.
Along with the leanness, strength and improved cardio, I also improved the condition of my right knee. I was diagnosed with ‘runner’s knee’ and it’s been painful for a few years. While at the start of the program, it was giving me some trouble, as the weeks went on, it started hurting less and less. Now I have little to no problems with all the workouts and cardio sessions, which are done on a treadmill at sprinting speeds.
Over the summer I play a lot of baseball, which doesn’t leave a lot of time for the gym. What I love about MAX Workouts is the much shorter workout times and full body workouts. With MAX Workouts, I get sore but not nearly as sore as when I do isolated muscle group workouts. I can’t play well when my legs are so sore I can barely walk. While I still get sore, it’s a good sore where I’m still functional the next day and that will be great for games.
The Lean Body Diet was a great educational tool in my efforts to get fit. I always thought I got enough protein in my regular diet but after breaking down what I needed, I found out I wasn’t even close. Worse was that I found out I was consuming way too many carbs. Once I balanced my diet, the weight started dropping.
My two main goals when I started the program were to get lean and become better athletically. MAX Workouts was the perfect program to both. Now comes the hard part, maintenance. As long as I follow the Lean Body diet and keep up with the workouts, that will be no problem.

After having 2 children I have been riding the roller coaster of gaining weight and losing weight and then gaining weight again. I have never been able to maintain my goal weight for a very long period. I will gain weight gradually and before I know it I will be back where I started. 2 years ago a very good friend of mine, Vicky Delport, and personal trainer helped me to lose weight by combining cardio and weight resistant training (gym).
I must say that is absolutely the way to go. There is no easy way or quick fix in losing weight. I had to work very hard. In the morning I would go to gym for 1.5 hours and then later in the day I go back and do 1 hour of cardio. I would cut out fat and sugar here and there and that would be it. After a few months I would combine cardio and gym into 1.5 hours. I did lose a lot of weight with the support of my personal trainer. The winter months came and my little daughter caught the flu at the crèche on an ongoing basis and as a result I would also be sick most of the time. I exercised less and less and eventually stopped. A year later and I have gained almost all the weight back again.
In the meanwhile life has become so busy between my children in school, activities after school and being an artist that having spare time became somewhat of a luxury. I knew I had to start the process all over again in losing weight but I also knew that I just don’t have 1.5 to 2.5 hours anymore to exercise. And although I knew I have a strong mind to do something, the idea of doing it all over again just finally left me discouraged and without energy to attempt any kind of effort. I was caught between two worlds. I definitely don’t want to grow old overweight and unfit not being able to enjoy life to the full with my children but thinking of the hard work and discipline just left me discouraged, without energy and even depressed.
It’s then when I went on the internet not looking for any solution but actually just browsing for some information for my little daughter’s blocked tear duct that something caught my eye “ the 6 worst things you can do…” When I started reading I couldn’t stop. I just knew MAX workouts wasn’t some empty promise or overnight quick fix for weight loss. It was all so realistic and honest and it all made sense.
I knew it was the truth because it confirmed what I already knew but this program took it even further. Weight resistant training and cardio but used scientifically so that the body can burn the most fat in the shortest amount of time. High intensity, much shorter exercising time, full body workouts. It’s just all in a nutshell. I had to buy Max workouts. I was so excited! Here was a program for me. I loved the fact that Shin said the program wasn’t for everybody and that you had to work hard. But most of all I loved it because it would be hard work for about 30min per day. Who wouldn’t give just 30min per day for something that would definitely give excellent results!
I bought Max workouts, printed it out in book form and started reading. When I read the Lean Body Diet book that you get with the workouts it opened up a whole new world to me. I couldn’t believe that I got so much information for such a little amount that I paid for the program. Usually this amount of information would be unaffordable.
Shin you have changed the way I think about food. CARBOHYDRATES! What can I say? I now know why I could never maintain my weight. It’s because I thought I knew what healthy food was. Low fat and minimal sugar but the real enemy, carbs, was plenty full in my diet (even undercover in brown low GI form). And I know now it’s not just for weight loss but for overall health that I should stay away from carbs and rather find sources of carbs in my fruit and vegs and welcome fat in my diet. It’s also because my duration for exercise was too long and I couldn’t keep it up. You were right about crunches and sit ups. I didn’t do one.
In fact I didn’t even do the optional ab/core conditioning exercises in the program. Just by doing the full body exercises and the occasional ‘plank hold position’ to see how long I could hold the position ripped my stomach. Just imagine how ripped I would have been if I did them. Now that I feel much stronger I will definitely give them a try.
Completing the MAX workouts 90 day program made me realize I can still achieve my goals. I have lost 9kg and 31cm. I almost couldn’t wear the same pants for the ‘after photo’ because it felt so loose. I am 4kg away from my goal weight. I will continue with MAX workouts. This is a program for life because it’s realistic and hard work but it is easy maintainable because it’s only 30min per day.
What I like most about MAX workouts is that it’s only 30min per day sometimes less. All I needed to do the program with was a Gymboss timer, dumbbells and a chair. I value the ongoing support I got from day one. Shin you never ceased in sending encouragement, support, facts and tips about exercising, muscle recovery, food choices and different food sources. And you are quick to reply to any question online.
This program is not just about losing weight. It’s a life changing experience. It’s more than full body high intensity workouts that’s 100% successful and full of promising results. It’s about seeing exercise, food and health in a different light. It becomes a way of life. I feel more energetic, healthier and physically very strong. I feel able to enjoy any kind of sport (coaching hockey at school for 10 year olds and they battle to keep up with me) and I feel very flexible. I thank my Lord Jesus Christ that I was able to come across your program.
Thank you Shin for not just selling a great program but for being someone that really shows an interest in people’s health, fitness and over all well being, I will ever be grateful to you and recommend this program to anyone that wants to live a fit, lean and healthy life.

I joined MAX Workouts on May 5, 2011 and began the program when the Transformation Contest started on June 1, 2011. I’ve always been overweight with a paunch, flat butt, and skinny calves. And, I was embarrassed to be seen with shorts and no shirt since elementary school. Well, not much of a change took place since and at the age of 60 I am ready for a makeover from fat to fit.
Well, the contest ended and I am more than thankful and very content with the results of my transformation. I am really amazed to see that there is muscle under the fat, and I can’t believe how good it feels from being fat to fit. I not only received a lot of comments from family and friends but from co-workers and supervisors as well. I have been told of how good I look, and they being jealous of my being skinny. I also must add that my wife of 20 years, come September 26, now says while rubbing my stomach, “My abs is on its way!”
Shin, I must say MAX Workouts is an outstanding program that entered the Health and Fitness World and the value of the Transformation Contest is less for more. I knew there was a light at the end of the tunnel which I’m glad to have found. Keep up the great work and thank you for your guidance and continuous support.

Before i started the MAX Workouts Program I was in reasonable shape and reasonable health, but I was always tired and lacking in energy. Going to the gym always felt more like a chore than a pleasure. On reading the news letter that I get e-mailed to me I finally decided that I would give this program a go - after all it was only for 12 weeks and boy am I glad I did…
I feel better than i ever have, less time in the gym and energy levels have gone up and i really look forward to the workouts. This is a program I know that I will definitely be sticking to. Its a ‘win-win’ situation that I highly recommend - and I have done exactly this to so many people in the gym who have asked me over the last 12 weeks what I have been doing because they have noticed the change in me, and not just in my physical appearance.
Through the MAX Workouts Program I have lost 17 pounds in weight and also 2inches round my waist. I have gained three quarters of an inch on biceps and also up by one inch on my thighs. I have gained an inch on my chest and have lost 2 inches off my hips. My self confidence has increased to their highest level in years, I feel confident and comfortable to take my T-shirt off in public, I am now stronger in the gym and have gained some size and lost body fat.
The thing I liked most about the workouts is that I got to spend less time in the gym, great health benefits and looking better than I have done in years. All my thanks to all at MAX Workouts.
×I’m 28 from New York and as a result of doing MAX Workouts, I was able to lose 4 inches from my waist, while gaining 2 inches on my biceps and 3 inches on my chest. I was able to cut my body fat from 22% to 9% and lose 22 lbs.

I discovered the MAX Workouts program while searching the internet for interval training programs. My goal at the time was to raise my anaerobic threshold and increase my cardio. I have been physically active for most of my life, running marathons in my early 40’s and cycling since 1988. Mountain biking until about three years ago and then road cycling. I joined a cycling club in Ashland, Oregon and now ride two to three times a week.with a group of club riders whose average age is a 15 to 20 years younger than I and I found myself struggling to keep up. In addition I realized that I had lost a significant amount of my upper body muscle tone and mass over the last twenty years, so it looked like I only had two options. One was to lose weight and get more fit and the second options was to quit. I rejected the last option and signed up for the MAX Workouts
During my first 12 weeks on the program which I started on February 12th and ended on May 12th, I lost 10 lb and reduced my waist size by 4 inches. I found that I was still not where I wanted to be so I started the program again on May 13th and ended August 11th. I am still not where I want to be, so I will continue with the basic program. I lost an additional 8 lb and an additional 3 inches off of my waist. Although I have not increased my muscle mass a great deal, I am now much stronger and my overall fitness is much greater. One of the drawbacks of loosing a significant amount of weight at my age is ending up with a lot of loose skin.
I would highly recommend the MAX Workouts program to every one who wants to be fit and trim regardless of age. For those in the prime of life, make the program a lifetime commitment and you just might end up in your later years with a lot less loose skin.
The following is the result of the last twelve weeks.

After having my children (3) I had always been able to return to my pre-pregnancy weight of 115 lb. Three years after having my last child, I started to enter perimenopause without knowing that I actually was going through it. Slowly but surely the symptoms and consequences of hormonal changes started to take over. I gained eight pounds and my body fat went up four percent even though I was still eating the same and exercising.
I was very frustrated because I had tried changing my diet, attended multiple group classes, and had several personal trainers but my weight didn’t change and neither did my body fat percentage. I was not sure of what do to next but wasn’t willing to give up on my health and body image. I started searching the internet for exercises that I could do to jumpstart my metabolism and lose the weight when I came across MAX Workouts! It didn’t take long for me to decide that I wanted to give MAX Workouts a try. Not only did I enjoy the challenge of the workouts but started to see the results I had been trying to achieve for the past 3 years!!!
My weight went from 123 to 112 lb, my energy levels increased and some of my perimenopausal symptoms went away. The best part of it all, I went from a size 6 in pant and dress size to a size 2!!! I had never been able to wear anything less than a size 6, so not only did MAX Workouts and Shin’s encouragement help me lose weight but I definitely lost inches and gained more lean muscle mass. I started to burn more calories in the 30 minute workouts than what I used to burn in the one hour classes that I took or personal training sessions that I did.
My measurements are the following:

I lost both of my parents at a young age. I decided that it was time for me to break this family curse of sickness so I decided to get back in the gym!
While searching the internet for more workouts to do I came across a website called MAX Workouts. I didn’t know exactly what it was, but as I was reading it sound more and more like it would be something that I was interested in, so I decided to give it a try.
I must say that I wasn’t sold on MAX Workouts until I actually tried it. I entered the contest to hold myself accountable for the daily routine. After starting the 12 week program I couldn’t believe how incredible the workouts actually made me feel.
While doing the 12 week program I had personal trainers come to me asking me about my workout. I noticed that each time I start my workout I have more eyes on me. I have even met new friends just by them asking me, “What are you going to work on today”? The best part about this workout to me is that you’re in and out of the gym in less than an hour and you are getting a real effective workout.
Everywhere I go I get compliments on how much weight I’ve lost and how good I look. I give all the credit to GOD for allowing me to find MAX Workouts on the internet and giving me the strength and the will power to complete every exercise on a daily basis no matter how hard it was!
I must now replace all my clothes in my closet because everything I own is too big. I looked at a picture for the first time and I couldn’t believe the difference in the way I look. I recommend MAX Workouts to anyone that wants to build lean muscle and shed unwanted fat. I must say that I have a little ways to go to get to where I want to be, but I will continue shedding my fat by doing these workouts.
I want to thank you for your time and effort that it took for you all to put something like this together; that is awesome!! It has changed my life and the way I workout.
Like most people I was yo-yo dieter and exerciser for most of my life. In the last three years I even stopped going to the gym, stopped doing yoga which all of it I did when I was younger. As I progressively got fatter I simply didn’t have energy to exercise, and got myself in a vicious circle.
When I bought MAX Workout program just over a year ago I started on it with enthusiasm but didn’t stick to it long enough to see any dramatic results. The main reason, of course, is that I soon stopped to exercise regularly and went back to excuses and periodic overeating.
I kept coming back to this particular program, read a lot about it and exercised occasionally as I travelled a lot in that period. The more I read about your program the more I liked it and for some reason it gave me hope that I still could get in shape regardless of age and kept thinking it is wrong to give up on exercise now when actually we need it the most. But as most exercise programs take so much time and do not help much or improvement is very slow it is easy to get disillusioned especially as we get older. As we all know it is so much easier to keep in shape or get in shape and have a good toned muscles when young. That’s why I was reluctant and a slow starter. Though I didn’t exercise regularly I couldn’t let go of your program either and always hoped I will do it properly some day.
I was always into a healthy food and though I wasn’t even a vegetarian I ate very little meat, hardly ever consumed alcohol, but thrived on fruit and vegetables. My only problem was periodic overeating mostly bread, pastry, biscuits, sugar and my weight would shoot up in no time. In these periods I would usually stop exercising as my energy would plummet.
When I hit 62 I noticed that flab was taking over even when I managed to slim down on my healthy food and irregular exercising. Until then I wasn’t flabby in the least like most people of my age, probably due to healthy eating and sporadic exercises, swimming, walking….I realized that even eating healthily will not stop the flab as we get older and decided to look into weight training, and that’s when I spotted your advert in the English Telegraph if I am not mistaken. So I’ve decided to try your program which appealed to me on many levels.
First of all it is a short workout, so it was easier to stick to it and feel some sort of accomplishment which is always encouraging to persevere, secondly it is more strenuous than what I did since I’ve stopped going to the gym and it is good and really easy to make it part of our daily life once we ourselves apply discipline. That’s why I kept coming back to your program. It is obviously developed with great care and knowledge.
After a few starts and giving it up I noticed that even then my whole body become firmer and better shape, regardless that I didn’t do it regularly, (yes, I did look worse and flabbier then these “before” photos) but, of course, it did not last for long due to some exercising .... so when you announced this competition I hesitated to enroll but decided if I do enroll I will more likely commit myself to regular workout. And it worked.
Now I realize it is really all matter of discipline and a good program. Once I’ve started working regularly on your program I noticed I had more energy, agility and manage to do so much more in my life than when I didn’t exercise, applying usual excuses “I don’t have the time”. Now regardless that I spend an hour daily for exercising I suddenly have more time than ever. My energy seems to be limitless, which I find astonishing. I just don’t get tired and listless any more no do I need any sugary “pick me ups”.
Only now that my muscles emerged again, do i feel I have something to work with or to work on. In these last three months it took me all that effort to get rid of almost 10 kilos of fat and flab, wake up the muscles or shall we say bring my muscles back from the brink of death…. That’s exactly how I feel. Now, I move differently, with new found grace and a long forgotten lightness. I’ve learned that once our muscles get stronger we are able once more to walk tall without putting an effort, with agility of the young ones.
Isn’t it strange that “aging” is regarded as normal, getting thick bodies with thin limbs, that horrible humpty, dumpty look is regarded as unavoidable or if people do stay slim their muscles are so weak and diminished that they slouch anyhow, especially in the stomach and shoulders area. I really believe now more than ever that all of it IS AVOIDABLE and we can look reasonably young and stay strong until we die…. for die we shall, but at least we don’t have to be feeble and sick in our “old” age. We humans simply should not age the way we do and accept it as normal. I strongly believe that. After all, animals don’t age so badly as we do.
Now my friends can’t believe that I’ve changed and streamlined so much in just three months.
Thirty-two years ago when I gave birth to my son, I had cesarian section. Ever since, even when I was slimmer than now, I had a little pouch hanging above the cut. Everybody told me that I’ll never get rid of it and I didn’t, even when I exercised regularly soon after his birth. As I got fatter and my stomach got bigger that pouch became more and more pronounced. Now I’ve noticed that it is considerably smaller than it ever was, but it is still there.
As your exercises are based as it seems on very deep scientific knowledge of how human body works, and they do deliver results, maybe you’ll be able some day to come up with exercises that can flatten or repair that stomach muscle that has been cut and deformed it seems for ever…. now that would be something, as there are millions and millions women with this problem who would pay gladly to be rid of it. And how!!!
Now, at 64 years old I feel full of energy and vitality, I can work mentally or physically ( gardening, walking, swimming ) for much longer periods without getting tired. I can jump now! I don’t get breathless when walking uphill. It is amazing what excess fat and weak muscles do to us and how much more productive we all are when in good shape with strong core and muscles. It makes a tremendous difference. I am planning to lose another 8-10 pounds, but as regular exercising and healthy eating is definitely going to be my lifestyle from now on, it will be a breeze. It would be too stupid for words to give it up ever again. For me it is not even an option any more, that’s how marvelous I now feel.
Thank you for creating these excellent, short workouts….. if only I did it as soon as I bought it, but luckily it wasn’t too late, I think, because my “young” shape is emerging once more.. But if I didn’t commit myself to this competition I think I would be still procrastinating and “starting from tomorrow, to tomorrow…”
Now I can’t wait to see what will happen in the next three months of exercising.
Thank you once more Shin and I wish you a lot of success in your work. If only more people realize how much it can help. I certainly did not until I put it REGULARLY into the practice.
With warmest regards
Enisa

Before I started MAX Workout, I never considered lifting weights to lose weight…didn’t seem appropriate. However, I kept an open mind, got a set of weights, set up a realistic goal and started. Everything was challenging - squeezing the training into my schedule; sticking to the diet. Fortunately, there was the incredible help of Shin’s guidance, the Max Workouts’ articles and forums. I started seeing results already the 1st couple of weeks. Despite that my body hurt everywhere I got energy and at the same was losing weight. My doubts evaporated. I finished the 90 days Max Workout program achieving my goal – to get back to my best ever body shape when I was on top of my ‘amateur sport’ career. On top of it I started sleeping well; my posture got fixed; the signs of depression disappeared and my mood got significantly elevated.

I’ve been working out forever (or at least it feels that way)! Just in the past 4 years I had my third & last boy! I’ve been working out religiously 5-6 times a week (tons of cardio)! I’ve even ran 3 half marathons and 3 mudruns!! I quickly realized I was so burned out from doing long hours of Cardio, not losing weight, not getting stronger or toning, feeling aches and pains and of course running out of time in my day! When I found your program I loved that it was short and that I could actually work out from home if I wanted to! At first my workouts started at home then I had to actually move to the gym because I needed HEAVIER weights!! Unbelievable!!
Something had to change I had the best workout routine but nothing was changing until I CLEANED UP MY EATING!!! THANKS for your eating advice! When I would read your monthly newsletters about diet recommendations, I started finding more and more resources that helped really clean up my diet! Something had to give! I realized I was addicted to sugar and refined carbs! I cut out grains & sugar and I could not believe my eyes how quickly the fat started to melt with your routines!!!
Trying MAX Workouts was hard for me at first being that I was such a hamster on the wheel about cardio! I said I’ll give this a try, because what I had been doing for years wasn’t working! Time to try something new!!
My favorite thing about MAX Workouts is the use of free weights and body weight! I feel that this program has gotten me stronger than I have ever been! I thought I was just the type that couldn’t build muscle! Boy was I wrong about that! I’m so ecstatic to lift weights now and could care less about long hours of cardio! I also love how I get a full body HIGH INTENSITY workout in a short time! (30 minutes at the most)!!
I started the program and cleaning up my eating January 28, 2013 till today April 15, 2013. I’ve lost a total 22 lbs! My starting weight was 180.8 lbs and my current weight is 158.8 lbs! I’m ready for the next challenge!! I have 20 lbs more to go and I will do it with MAX Workouts!! Can’t wait!!

I decided to make the transformation from a father who watches his kids play, to a father who chases and swings with his kids all day.
I was 136 kg when I started Max Workouts on the April 20 2010. I am now 110 kg and falling.
In 48 hours I will have completed 90 days .
You teachings have given me the strength, speed, skill and courage to do things that 88 days ago I would not have dreamed of attempting.
As a result of the workouts I have muscles popping out all over the place…I just cant believe that its me.
I am excited everyday.
Well coach I just want to let you know how much your teachings have changed my life. No words could express my gratitude.
×Up to age 24 or so I had always been able to eat pretty much what I wanted without any effect on my weight. After then getting married I then noticed the weight was fairly easy to put on! However I became most perplexed (and concerned for my overall wellbeing) when after Christmas 2011 (then aged 37) I had managed to put on quite a belly and my 11 year old son asked me if I had a cushion under my jumper ! – I just assumed I was “eating too much” and “not exercising enough”. This was only partially true and this low level knowledge did not help me to take any form of action.
In April 2012 I read a book which completely transformed my thinking: “Why we get fat and what to do about it” by Gary Taubes. It was claiming that it wasn’t about “eating too much” or “not exercising”, but that it was the type of foods we eat: cut out refined carbohydrates which the body quickly converts to sugar and stores as fat basically. Yes exercise is important but not in excess.
I started a low carbohydrate diet in May 2012 and a few weeks after saw an advertisement from MAX Workouts which seemed to line up with all that I had read: a low carbohydrate diet is key, combined with short intense exercise. I bought the 90 day course and was hooked straight away ! (My diet throughout mainly consisted of a nice cooked breakfast each day with lots of protein, olive oil, spinach and carrot, a chicken salad for lunch and a normal meal in the evening with rice or potato substituted with spring greens – yum !)
The 90 days program was really, really tough at first. I ached all over and found the whole-body exercises a real “nightmare” for the first few weeks. My thighs and glutes just didn’t know what was happening to them ! The muscle roll became one of my best friends and helped a lot! However, the course provided such a source of motivation and I always felt amazing after I had completed each session. I loved it !
I love the MAX Workouts 90 days as the exercises are achievable and they added a whole lot to my feeling of life achievement and self esteem.
I started off struggling on 11 lb dumbbells and at the end of the 12 weeks had reached 33 lb dumbbells through each session, with upper and lower strength substantially increased.
I have also historically struggled with a bad back and in each year 2008 to 2011 I had suffered a back spasm which caused me to stay in bed for a week at a time to recover. I thought I would have this problem for life. However, since following Shin’s advice about exercising to strengthen the back (eg. hip flexor muscle stretches, deadlifts etc.) and being careful of the lower back when exercising, I have not had any more back problems and my back muscles have strengthened– 2012 was the first year for a good few that I suffered no back problems! Thank you !!
Because of my back problem I had also suffered a very painful left knee as I had relied on it to lift myself back up after crouching so many times to avoid bending my back in any way. I thought that this was going to prove to be a problem during the exercises and during my first few weeks I did notice it. However once I had done numerous squats and squat presses and the dreaded one-legged squats, my knee became a lot stronger and I haven’t had any knee pain since!
I couldn’t complete the first interval cardio session – it exhausted me half way through. But after a few weeks I had built up a substantial amount of stamina and built a 4 mile route that I was regularly able to complete within 35 min (including the 10 min warm up). It gave me a passion for interval running, so much so that I started going along to a local athletics club ! (Before I started MAX Workouts, I thought I hated running!)
The advice that Shin has given, through the 90 day program, his emails and the many journals he has written, has been invaluable to me, has built up a storehouse of knowledge about my health, diet and exercise and has provided so much encouragement and motivation, even when family and friends have not been so keen!
In summary MAX Workouts has helped to resolve so many issues in my life – health, fitness, confidence and self esteem and I have enjoyed it thoroughly. I am now waiting for Spring to start my second 90 days !

In the summer of 2012, I suffered a pretty serious blood infection which had me bed-ridden for a week. I weighed 208 pounds and was unhealthy. Lying around for 7 days gave me a lot of time to think about myself and the direction I was going. I came out of that sickness with a new motivation to take control of my health and get fit once and for all.
A cursory internet search landed me on the MAX Workouts website and I was hooked immediately! I was never skeptical because I have tried many different workout programs, and what I read made total sense and was like nothing I had seen before. My most recent experience with working out had been using a Bowflex, but it does not even come close to Shin’s program.
I was so excited about everything I was reading that I completed my first 90 day program in the Fall of 2012, but I did NOT follow the diet. I did not get very good results, but still lost 12 pounds. Obviously, I was not taking full advantage of Shin’s program.
As a New Year’s resolution for 2013, I decided I would do the 90 day program again and follow the diet this time, and that is when the Transformation contest was announced. I was extremely motivated to complete the challenge.
I did the workouts exactly as written and followed the diet religiously…the results have been astounding!! It’s like the weight has been melting off. One of my biggest fears in life has always been taking my shirt off in public so I could swim with my 6 year old boy in the summer, and more times than not I would not swim with him because I was too afraid to go without a shirt.
Thanks to Shin’s program, I am now able to take my shirt off in public without fear or embarrassment, and feel very proud about the way I look for the first time in my life. Everyone I know cannot believe the change I have gone through, and the downside has been that this program has cost me a lot of money…I’ve had to have all of my pants taken in at the waist!!! (see enclosed photo of me with a pair of jeans I’ve had to throw out).
At 45 years old, I am in the best shape of my life and have seen amazing improvements in performing other sports like hockey and swimming. I am much stronger and have more endurance than when I was in my late teens/early twenties!
What I like most about the MAX Workouts program is that the workouts only take about 20 – 30 minutes and does not require thousands of dollars in gym memberships and/or equipment, only very basic equipment is required. I also love the fact that the workouts change every three weeks which means I never get bored and the body is continuously fooled into progressing all the time…there is never a plateau!
Finally, the workouts are all created by Shin and posted on the site. It takes away all the guesswork in trying to always come up with different workouts. All you have to do is execute…Shin does the rest!
Regardless of whether I win this contest, I am so thankful for Shin and what he has done for me and thousands more people across the world. Thank you Shin, please don’t ever stop doing what you’re doing.
Sincerely,
David

I was a husky boy when I was younger. I was very active, but just husky in build. Once I hit my growth spurt, my body stretched out and I went from being husky to being skin and bones. When I entered college I was 5’7” and weighed 124 lbs. I couldn’t gain weight for anything. I was moderately active and had a very high metabolism, which was great for me because I love food and to eat.
My parents were not sports fans, so I was not really allowed to participate in sports. I always wanted to, being jealous of the jocks who were far stronger and better built than this scrawny kid was. I simply never knew what to do and never had a place to workout. This extended into my college years. I took a weight lifting class in college and learned the different lifts and the proper form, but still didn’t really learn how to workout, what to do on a continual basis. I lifted with friends, but it was more social than work and my buddy joked as he curled the barbell from me I was using for bench press.
As college came to a close I became less and less active. I moved to an office desk job and a very sedentary life. Then came kids and on and on until I no longer had trouble adding weight. I changed companies to where I am now. They are a large company and provide a world class fitness complex at a very low price. I’m blessed to have it available to me. I would workout some, but mainly used it for racquetball and tennis. I wanted to lift and would be motivated to do so for short spurts, but again, I didn’t know how to design a workout program. Not knowing what to do makes it really hard to stay motivated to do anything. I continued to play tennis as much as I could, but not much else.
A couple of years ago I started running. I have never liked running and still don’t, but I thought it would burn the most calories in the least amount of time. I was able to drop about 20 lbs. over the course of about 4 or 5 months. I was excited. I had to buy new pants. I thought I would never go back, but I was wrong. I went on a mission trip to Yekaterinburg, Russia, and did not get to exercise much. I believe I ran once the 7 days I was there. When I got back, I was already out of the practice, continued to hate running, and got busy at work to where I couldn’t run at lunch. I slowly began to put on the pounds again.
In the Fall of that year I actually stumbled across the MAX Workouts programs. I believe I saw an ad on the Weather Channel website. I normally ignore all the extras, but it just caught my eye. So, I clicked on it, read it and in an impulse bought the program. After reading the Max Workout program book, I was excited. A plan, and it is more strength training than cardio. This should be fun. Then I read the Lean Body Diet book. Not a big fan. I could understand not eating bread, pastas, rice, sugar, although I didn’t think it was anything I could change forever (I love sandwiches and chocolate chip cookies), but when it lumped in beans and peas in the “no” category, I knew it was not for me. I love beans and peas, all kinds, and I had always thought they were supposed to be really good for you; high in protein and fiber. This was just too radical for me. So, I started the workouts, but skipped on the diet plan. I ate a little better than before, but not much. I made it to about the second week of Level 2 before I quit. I wasn’t seeing results and the workouts were so difficult. I just quit.
From there we move to now. I continued to pack on the pounds and finally tipped the scale at over 200 lbs. I could not believe it. I felt awful, my clothes tight (even after upping my pant size back to where it was) and I was tired all the time. My oldest son had finally gotten to where he could ride a bike without training wheels and was asking me to take bike rides all the time. I never wanted to because I was just so tired. I felt like a bad dad as all I wanted to do when not at work was sit on the couch and rest.
Towards the end of last year our company offered a fitness challenge. The concept was very simple. Make one better choice a day and exercise for at least 30 minutes at a certain heart rate range at least 5 days a week. It was a 4 week program and basically you just checked the checkbox each day for making a better decision and for exercising. It was a new concept to me. Walk to burn fat, don’t run, and just make one better eating choice. I love to walk, I can do that. I decided to participate. Checking checkboxes worked for me and I completed the program with all seven days checked for both exercise and better choice for all 4 weeks. This was from Thanksgiving up to Christmas, so I was proud that I still did it through the Thanksgiving holiday (I really like food). I felt better over the course of the four weeks and had since of accomplishment, but I didn’t really see any weight loss. I was not as good over the Christmas holidays. Not only do I like food, but I’m a good cook and can make really good cakes, cookies, and pies. What the challenge did do for me, was get me moving again and into the gym. While at the gym I saw a sign for an upcoming 12 week fitness challenge. I thought since checking the checkbox and challenge motivated me, I will just move on to the next competition. So I signed up.
This fitness challenge has 3 components. First is the body composition. At the start of the challenge I had a BodPod test that told me my body fat and lean muscle percentages and actual weight. At the end of the challenge I would have another BodPod exam for comparison. For every pound of fat lost, I get 1 point. For every pound of muscle gained, I get 1 point. For every pound of muscle lost, I lose a point. This seemed to me they were looking at the right things. These results are 50% of my overall score. The second part was a series of questions to answer after the program. Motivation, hurdles, etc. These count 40% of the total score. Finally, I had to set two goals at the beginning. Accomplishing these earn me the last 10% of my overall score.
I decided not only to participate, but that I would be the grand champion. I knew it would not be easy and I would have to work hard and I knew exactly what I needed to do for the 12 weeks, the MAX Workouts program AND the Lean Body Diet and that is what I did. I followed the program as close as possible, doing everything it said about dynamic warm-ups, reduce rest time, full body workouts, etc. and I also followed the Lean Body Diet without cheating. I had no bread, rice, pasta, sugar snacks, beans, peas, etc. Throughout the time I had to do some baking for others, but I did not eat. I believe I had one bite of a pumpkin pie I made and 1 bite of a chocolate pie I made to make sure it tasted good, but that was it. Well, an occasional jolly rancher. Doing this, worked wonders. I could not believe the progress I made in such a short time.
I remember after the first week I looked ahead at the future level workouts and thought, there is no way I’m going to be able to do that in a just a few weeks, but when it came time, I not only did it, but made improvements week after week, pushing myself to do more in less time. I loved and love the workouts, especially the Olympic type lifts. They are the most fun to do and although I am still not as strong as I would like, they make me feel strong and powerful doing them.
The diet, I believe, was the real key for me, though, as much as I love the workouts. I thought it would be harder than it was, but I really did not miss the foods like I thought I would and I am confident I won’t go back to eating like I did. I may cheat once in a while, but I’m really scared to do so. That one taste may put me back on the wagon, so to speak. I’m better off continuing to deprive myself. I have found recipes and made up others to cook to where I am satisfied. I eat more for fuel and health now then I do for simply taste and fun. If I had not done the diet, I believe I would have been doomed to fail as I did before.
The results of the company fitness challenge are not yet available, but I still am confident I am going to win and I owe it all to this program and my life change. My results are as follows:

I am so thankful for this program and what it has done for my overall health. I am healthier, happier, and have tons of energy to play with both my boys and take bike rides anytime they want. And the best part about this program is it doesn’t stop after 90 days. Other programs widely advertised cost so much for DVDs and such and after the program I would have been right where I was before, “Now what do I do?” Not with MAX Workouts, I’m a club member and Shin doesn’t leave you hanging. I know what to do each and every day and it doesn’t stop with just the workouts, but there are tons and tons of information to go along with it.
If there is one thing I would want everyone to know about this program is that you never have to be blocked by what you don’t know or don’t know how to do. Shin spells it out and done so in the simplest terms. You don’t have to join for just 90 days, you can join for life. We only get one life. What we do with it, whether we decide to make a positive change in ourselves and others is up to us. If we really choose to, we can do it.
Thank you,
David B.
One month into MAX Workouts, people began to notice the difference in me. By the end of the 90-day program, my weight had dropped from 69kg to 62kg, with a 10% reduction in my body fat. I had to alter my pants and shirts as they had become noticeably loose.
I have never felt fitter since after my army days 35 years ago. My wife says I no longer snore in my sleep, and I can concentrate for long hours at work without feeling tired. MAX Workouts have revolutionized my lifestyle – now, I intentionally make time to exercise and am more careful of what I eat. God willing, I will continue this newfound enjoyable healthy lifestyle. Thanks, Shin!

Before starting the MAX Workouts I had progressively over 8 years got fatter and fatter but with that gradual gain that you seem to allow. You know you are bigger than before but it happens so slowly that you don’t seem to see where you are going wrong…. that was until I got on the scales and they tipped at over 20 ½ stone (291lbs) I had actually hit 300lbs and that was the big alarm bell that rung.
In the following weeks I found Max Workouts but sadly was ill and couldn’t start the exercises but MAX Workouts just seem like something that I hoped would suit my mentality. I am a hit it hard and fast kind of person and reading up about MAX Workout there seemed like there was no messing about. No machoism just plain, simple and effective exercises. I was a little skeptical about 20 minute workouts but I was willing to give it a go.
Being ill I couldn’t start immediately but did start the diet straight away. I shifted 9lbs before starting the exercise plan a week or two later. This was looking good but there was also the nagging “you’ve not been well and haven’t been eating much at all” feeling and maybe this was too good to be true.
After the first day of level 1 day1, I left the gym invigorated, actually invigorated isn’t the right word, later on I was invigorated as I left the gym I was totally bushed, it felt like my lungs had dropped out my arse and my muscles turned to paper which was mashed from the pure sweat bath I had taken. Once showered and changed then I felt invigorated. The following day my thighs let me know what they thought about the situation. But…. a little pain never hurt anyone right?
At the end of week one I hopped on the scales and couldn’t believe it. Surely this was a duff battery in the scales? Nope the wife was saying they were realistic to her.
I was a total convert. There were people in the gym who would look at me a little odd coming up doing a warm up, then a 20 minute session then breathing heavy and looking like a drowned warthog I’d leave the gym. Leaving the ‘Muscle Heads’ to carry on lifting the same weight on the same arm that they had been doing when I arrived.
Halfway through the plan I was already getting comments from friends and relatives saying I was looking good. Asking how I had shifted the weight. This was a new and actually uncomfortable period for me as I am not too good at receiving compliments but I am learning to.
I have since had to change ALL of my wardrobe, shirts, trousers, underwear the lot. I’m gaining more and more energy every day. Training harder and harder and finally I am fit enough to get back to the sport that was my entire life 10 years previously…Kickboxing. This is the sport that I had proudly worn the Great British kit at the year 2000 World Championships the kit that had sat in a back room box hidden from view, with all the trophies taken out of the cabinet as I was ashamed to display trophies for a sport that no one would believe I had competed in, who would believe that the fat man before them was once ranked 3rd in the World.
My slow creep from fit to fat had stolen my confidence and pride at the same time. Now I am training again, proud of the who I am, what I was before my ‘break from training’, proud of what I am now and most importantly full of enthusiasm to see what I can become in the future. I can honestly say that this has changed my life. No longer do I shop for clothes that fit rather than clothes I want to wear. No longer am I ashamed to have my shirt off on the beach, ashamed of people know what I had achieved in a sport previously because I didn’t want to have to explain that yes, I just quit and I got fat.
My wife loves the new, fitter, more confident me too 😉

Do the diet, do the workouts, do it properly and see a new you, not just lighter but an entirely new person emerge.

My name is Dale, I am 33 years old. I started the max workout program on 1-14-2013 at 156lbs. and ended on 4-13-2013 at 150 lbs. This doesn’t sound like much of a change but if you look at the measurements you can see I gained a good bit of mass in my arms and chest while losing in the waist and belly.
It definitely has been a body transformation. I lost fat and gained muscle and that is why the overall weight loss doesn’t look as impressive at first. I have always been the type that didn’t have a lot of muscle and when I gained weight it was in my belly.
With the MAX Workouts program and Lean Body Diet, I was able to gain lean muscle while losing fat in my midsection. I gained 1 inch on each arm and 3 inches around my chest while losing 3 inches in my waist. My legs are stronger than ever and much more defined.
I am beginning to believe a six pack may be attainable for me if I keep working! My cholesterol has been high for a while but after this my overall number has came back into the normal range and my triglycerides, and LDL (bad cholesterol have dropped significantly) while my HDL has improved.
This workout program is great and doesn’t require as much time as most. I love the high intensity workouts and plan to keep doing them.

After I had my second child (4 months ago) I gained 14 Kg and I was feeling really bad about it. I decided to do something different and drastic to recover my shape. I never was really active but after my first child (which was 3 years ago) I changed my way of eating and started to do exercise every day. So before I got pregnant again I was in good shape and happy about my look,
After this second pregnancy I realized that I had to do it all over again! I’ve always liked to practice knowing what and why I was doing each exercise, and mostly to practice with a specific goal. When I ran into MAX Workouts site I knew that that was what I had to do to get back in shape.
I was impressed with the explanation why short high intensity exercises burn more fat than long moderate intensity.
It was a beat difficult to do all the changes on the diet because I was doing a macrobiotic feed and I ingested mostly carbs! I had to do a drastic change cutting carbs and eating fat!
After a while the results start happening and I was really glad! I lost 6 Kg in 12 weeks.
What I love about this workout is that I can do my daily workout only in 30 min and still got the rest of the day off! Otherwise I knew that after working, taking care of the children, cooking and cleaning the house…..there will be no time for me!
I recommend this workout to all that want to loose weight healthy and be in shape!
Thank you!

I am a mother of two, and recently read an article in a magazine about a 40 year old mom who transformed her body and in her photos she looks not a year older than 26. So I decided that if she can do it so can I and that’s what motivated me to start the MAX Workouts Programme.
Because the workouts are short, it was not too difficult to find time every day to do them even though I am working full time, have to cook for my family and feed and bath my 4 year and 18 months old boys. The only thing that kept me from exercising was the occasional flu (being winter and having children in pre-school) which unfortunately got the better of me one week per month.
I worked out a menu using the formulas in the max diet plan according to the amount of calories I may consume daily, but being a sweet tooth and it being winter I sometimes had a few chocolate bars which I believe must be the reason for me not reaching my goal yet. Summer is lurking however, and I managed to keep to my diet for the last three weeks. I’m planning to keep this up making it a permanent lifestyle change.
Thanks to Shin, losing weight is no longer a big unreachable battle. Thanks Shin, you’re the best!!
×MAX Workouts was the key factor in making it possible for me to achieve my goals. I wanted to lose weight, be able to wear my pre-pregnancy clothes, and confidently wear a two-piece bathing suit. There’s no doubt I was skeptical of this program. I had invested a lot of money over the years to weight loss programs, DVDs, and miracle pills. Their was always initial weight loss, but nothing ever seemed to last or get me to where I was totally happy with my body. After 12 weeks of dedicating myself and having faith in the process of MAX Workouts, I can now say that any doubt I had is gone. This program works, and my transformation is complete proof of that.
A few months after giving birth to my second child, every time I looked in the mirror while getting dressed, I would cringe. I was disgusted with the way I looked, and felt as if I would never be able to be satisfied with my body. We’re a young family, with two children. We recently purchased our first home, and in order for us to do so we had to cut back on a lot of our spending. We didn’t have the money for a gym membership, let alone the time for me to go. I thought going to the gym was my only hope, and since that wasn’t possible I allowed myself to feel sorry for myself and depressed. My husband managed to get me a treadmill in hopes I could benefit from it, get out of the funk I was in. I tried hard, but still the time it took for me to feel as if I was getting results just wasn’t possible. I didn’t have hours a day to spare.
Then a wonderful thing happened. I came across MAX Workouts, while searching the internet for ways to lose weight. The description of this program immediately caught my attention, hard-work, dedication, intense workouts, and all within 20-30 minutes a day. This seemed so different from all the other ads I had seen; promising instant results, not having to change the way you eat, easy to do. They always seemed too good to be true, and that’s just what they were, not true! MAX Workouts made sense, with Shins description of how your body burns fat, and what actually happens to your body when your eating refined carbs and sugar, I finally understood what healthy eating was. He laid out exactly what you had to do to get the max results from short high intensity workouts. And I was able to do the program in the comfort of my own home. For me, that was the best part about MaxWorkouts, with minimal equipment needed I didn’t have to pay hundreds of dollars to go to a gym!
When I started MAX Workouts I was still wearing my dreaded stretchy pants along with the majority of my maternity clothes. I didn’t have money to buy a new wardrobe and squeezing into my pre-pregnancy cloths was just to depressing. There I was self-consciously wearing the one pair of pants I had that fit, everyday hoping people wouldn’t notice. After completing the program I can’t describe how amazing it felt to be able to not only fit into my skinny jeans, but they were too big! I’m now smaller than I was before I had my kids. I’m still in the situation of not being able to afford a new wardrobe, but I’ll taking wearing clothes that are too lose than not being able to fit in them any day!
Even before I had my children, I have never been able to wear a bikini and feel 100% confident with how I looked in it. After going through this transformation, watching my body not only lose weight, but getting tight and toned, I can’t wait until I get the chance to rock my bikini at the beach!
When all is said and done this program didn’t just change my body, it changed my life, and how I feel about myself. Before starting MAX Workouts I was in a state of self-pity, I had given up on dancing ballet, which I had loved to do but felt like I couldn’t anymore since I was so out of shape. Upon completion of the 12 weeks I now feel fit enough and confident in myself, I have started taking ballet again, and just ran my first 5k. What a difference 12 weeks has made for the future of not only my life, but also my families lives as well. With the knowledge I gained from the Lean Body Diet, I now feel good about what I’m feeding my family, provide true healthy meals for my kids and husband.
I cannot say thank you enough, to Shin and the MAX Workouts program for being exactly what I needed to reach my goals. I am forever grateful and will continue to use what I have learned for the rest of my life!

Last year I hit my big 40th birthday. The year leading up to turning 40, I was inspired to get on top of my physical shape. I had always been athletic and active when younger. But lifestyle changes and a little bit of age can start to make a difference. I was well over 90kg, I was dealing with stress, and I was constantly battling afternoon fatigue and sluggishness. I needed to do something so I resolved in my heart to make some changes to my diet and activity level.
I did the first thing most people would do. I went to the internet to get some advice and recommendations. I searched for the latest suggestions on diet modification. I remember coming across MAX Workouts and gleaned some good advice, but didn’t pursue the program. Instead, I just bought and decided to diet the traditional route. Before you knew it, I dropped 15 kg. I was impressed. With just a little bit of effort and change I saw results fast. My energy level had increased quite a bit too. So I was excited to think these same results would continue. But they didn’t. I discovered that I reached a certain point relatively quickly. But I wasn’t going to improve any more. I hit the classic plateau. I was stuck! So I started to ride the bike more. I started to eat less. But I couldn’t seem to break the plateau. My belly fat wasn’t going away. I started to do more ab exercises. But my stomach never looked any different. Then I found that my energy level was actually starting to decline again. It was as if I was working harder than before but the results were starting to go the opposite direction. What was happening?
Then one day I decided to revisit MAX Workouts and I came across a video with Shin demonstrating an exercise. I decided to give it a try. Why not try something new? Immediately, after I was done with the exercise, I noticed something different. My body felt like it had worked in a new way. Not only did I experience specific muscles at work that hadn’t been used in a long time, but there was something unique about the combination of muscles all working together at the same time. It was as if my body didn’t know where to go to for energy so my whole system was put to work. In other words, I felt like I really worked out! I concluded Shin may be onto something good with his workouts.
Bottom line is that I was looking for something to get me out the plateau that I was stuck in. Although I wasn’t entirely unhappy with the point I had come to, I was getting frustrated that no matter how much work I seemed to be doing I was stuck at a certain point. I decided to give MAX Workouts program a try to see if that would yank me out of the plateau. If one little exercise could rock my body in that way, then perhaps that’s what I would need. I was right!
I soon started MAX Workouts 90-day program. I immediately was impressed with the amount of information that I received for the money. I learned that the combined use of information, specific exercises, diet, recovery, all work together to produce results. I love the approach of intensity. It feels amazing to shock your body with 20 minutes of intensity. It literally feels like you body is working the rest of the day in response to the intense workout.
In response to Shin’s workout and diet guidelines, my energy level has become revolutionized. I am not sluggish in the afternoon any more. I sleep great at night. And I conquered the plateau that I thought I could never get over. I am thankful for Shin’s program and recommend it to everyone who simply wants to feel better!

I’m a 38 year old married father of 4 from Indiana. I have a demanding full-time job and I am very involved in my kids’ activities including coaching little league baseball during the summer. I have an athletic background going back to my childhood, but life gets hectic and bad habits settle in as it relates to reduced physical activity and nutrition. I’ve tried various workouts and diets, but I always seem to get back to my old habits before I reach my goals.
When I found MAX Workouts I was looking for a workout that I thought would be demanding enough to provide results, but not take an hour plus a day. With all that I have going on in my life, I just don’t always have that much time to devote to physical fitness. MAX Workouts provided exactly what I was looking for!
I had rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder in October, 2012. It took three months of recovery and rehab before I could even start lifting very light weights. I was not cleared to start lifting normal weights until late April. This transformation contest arrived just in time. At the start of the contest, I had been relatively inactive for around 9 months due to my shoulder injury. Over that time, I packed on around 15 to 20 lb. I started the contest on May 19, 2013 and weighed 252 lb and just wasn’t feeling very healthy or good about myself. I ended the contest on August 12, 2013 and was down to 224 lb. for a loss of 28 lb!
My measurements were as follows:

Chest - 49 inches 46.5 inches after
Waist - 47.5 inches 42 inches after
Hips - 45 inches 41.5 inches after

Arm - 16.5” (R) 16.5” (L) 14.5” (R), 14.5” (L)
19.5 total inches of fat lost!!
I have so much more energy. When I leave the gym I feel better results in 30 minutes than I used to feel in over an hour. I’m the only one pushing tempo and sweating in the weights area at the gym. The workouts are fun and I like the diversity. Your encouraging emails and nutritional information are just a bonus to the great workout plan. I have really tried to follow your low carb advice. Thanks for helping me get off to a great start! I want to lose another 25 lbs and I feel like you’ve given me the tools to do it. I look forward to seeing my improvement in Round 2!!

I have always been an active person. Never had to workout or watch what I ate. I played soccer, did mini triathlons, half marathon, coached and had a job that I was physically active for 12 hour days. Then, I had changes in my life. Changed jobs to where I sit at a desk now, no longer coach and had surgery on my foot causing me not to be able to play soccer or run on a regular basis. The weight started slowly coming on but I would always say that it was fine “I am fat and happy.” I ate and drank whatever I wanted so I thought it was not too bad that I put on a few pounds. Those few pounds turned into 30 pounds or more over weight!!!
My two daughters ran cross country and track in high school and now are running for their colleges. They live a very active life and I realized I had to do something to be able to stay active with them. I knew that I did not have the time, commitment, or ability to go back to long runs. This is when I came across MAX Workouts. I was very excited to read and see people who lost weight and inches with this program. I thought what do I have to loose?
I love the MAX Workouts! It allows me to get a great workout in, in a short amount of time. It is a wonderful full body workout so it is not as much stress on my foot. I love that there is always a substitute exercise to fit your personal needs and most important I did not have to think about what I was going to do for a workout everyday. This program told you day by day what your workout was and varied it so you never got bored and more important your body never got used to the same routine. I had never did weight training and I love it. I could barely do a regular push up and started at 5 pound dumbbells and I am now up to 15-20 pound dumbbells and able to do several push ups!
I had to change my “eat anything” idea to cutting back on my carbs and increasing my protein. I love my veggies so that was easy but cutting back on the carbs were very hard for me. The increase in protein made all the difference. I never felt hungry because the protein made me feel full. I do not have a sweet tooth but definitely a salt-a-holic! I now see that by switching to more protein away from carbs of crackers, bread and refined carbs I am more satisfied and feel so much better.
With MAX Workouts I was able to drop inches and lose weight. I started MAX Workouts on February 11, 2013, and ended my 90 day workout May 6, 2013. It is a great feeling that not only can I tell the difference but people around me have noticed the change in my weight! I lost 16 pounds and inches of my body! I more toned then I have been in a long time. I will definitely continue with MAX Workouts to get to my goal weight and size.

My name is Bernard from Singapore. Although I purchased the MAX Workouts program a couple of years ago, I haven’t had the discipline and commitment to follow through beyond the first month of the 90 day program. It was not long before complacency set in and I found myself terribly out of shape again. My fitness level dipped, and I was back to my old lifestyle of late night binging and feeding on junk food. I blamed my hectic work schedule, poor genes, and everything else other then myself. I could barely even fit into my clothing. That period was the low point in my health and fitness level.
After receiving the details for the MAX Workouts transformation contest, I decided to take control of my fitness and body by using the contest as a motivating factor. The initial stages were difficult as I had to clean up my diet and wake up earlier to work out. The good thing was that along the way, I received email tips from MAX Workouts which guided me in my journey. The 30 minute workouts also allowed me to better fit them into my work schedule. As the weeks went by, I could feel myself having more stamina and strength. This ‘feel-good’ factor helped me resist temptations to binge and to persevere on with the workout plan.
Today, with what I have achieved with my health and fitness, I feel that I am already a winner, whether or not I win this contest. But I hope my transformation can inspire others to start afresh, just as how the stories of past contestants have inspired me. I will continue to train hard and incorporate the MAX Workouts into my daily routine.

I used to be called “Doraemon” long before I knew bodyweight training, I could not do sport for a long period. I had bad stamina and often had health problems, but then I decided to joining a gym near my university. I felt better, but the main problem was my belly fat. It is really difficulty to reduce it.
Then I started to read many articles, sites, journal related to fitness, healthy life style also lose my belly fat. But all the sources I got always said how important supplements were and doing split exercises to gain muscle. But I didn’t want to look like a muscular guy, I wanted to look leaner.
Until I found a journal written by Izumi Tabata about high intensity interval training and the benefits to increase stamina and lose belly fat, then I started to look a comprehensive workout and I found your site (MAX Workouts) and your method.
To be honest I found several instructors that had similar method, but I chose your workout for three reasons:
First, you always had scientific prove and source for your workout and articles. Second, your workout is makes sense to me judging from others members result. Third, You are not related to those supplement factories.
Things I like most about your workouts are that they are short and very challenging. I found out many exercises were new to me. I really like it when guys in the gym get curious about the way I train, using many compound exercises with less time. In Indonesia your method is not familiar, many of them are old school.
Your workout had increased my speed and stamina, and also improved my health. I really liked it when my friends noticed that I looked leaner week after week, and they were really curious about the workouts.

×I was trying to lose weight and reduce my tummy for the past three years, and even though I was working out… I wasn’t successful. When I discovered MAX Workout online I found it intriguing and decided to give a try. I would say I was 100 % successful in doing it. These workouts have definitely changed my life!

My name is Astrid, I live in Johannesburg South Africa and I started my MAX Workout training January, 14 2013 and completed my 90 days on April, 7 2013.
I am a full time professional belly dancer and instructor. Before my husband and I had a motorbike accident I was pretty much in shape and happy with my weight (49 kg still at the age of 34).
Unfortunately this event did a little bit of damage to my left hip and limited my ability to do a lot of movements and dance training. For approximately one year I had to reduce the amount of teaching, show performances and exercising. This unfortunately sent me on a spiral of depression and the weight gain began. (Many tried to convince me that a belly dancer is supposed to have a voluptuous body etc…..). Unfortunately I had a lot of pain in my left hip and the dancing was causing additional pain as well, I couldn’t walk properly for a year and after a year of visiting my chiropractor (almost twice a month-some times more) I was able to walk properly and with less pain.
In 2010 I had a slight set back, I sprained my knee and tore my patella tendon whilst performing on stage, I couldn’t stop the show so I danced my entire 30 minute performance with a torn patella. It took another year to heal. In the mean time I lost a lot of muscle strength and tone. My weight gain was rapidly increasing (I got up to 57 kg). I was never a big eater, in fact I ate on average two meals a day. I managed to lose some of that weight to 53 kg by September 2012 however my strength and tone was non-existent. I tried many other forms of “strengthening” exercises but to no avail.
Then one day in January 2013 one of my students (going through all this with me) sent me a link to MAX Workouts and suggested I read the article about Shin Ohtake.
Needless to say I was impressed and had no hesitation to buy the books. I really liked the fact that Shin is a Chiropractor (as I have great respect for my Chiropractor). I thought “Well he at least knows more about the body than most fitness instructors”
At first I thought I would be satisfied with just the 90 day challenge book but I felt alone and I had lots of questions. So I joined the club and have been pretty active on the forums. The support is phenomenal and everyone is quick to encourage and assist with any problem or inquiry. Even though I train at home I don’t feel alone being part of the club.
Results!!!!!!!! Within the first week I could feel strength in my hip. I started sleeping so much better (as I had little to no pain) by the second week I returned to teaching my classes and my students were in awe and amazed at how quick I had lost weight (4 kg). I was on that dance floor in full force my regular clients were dumbfounded by my sudden transformation. I could feel my “old self” returning. Now I can do two to three shows in an evening and I don’t have to visit my physiotherapist on the Monday for recovery.
What I enjoy is that each workout gradually increased my strength and my stamina. I loved (and still love) how my energy levels have increased, I love the fact that I can get off from sitting on a chair at my desk and out of the car like a normal person should do without any pain at all. The weight loss was an extra bonus. I am enjoying the daily workouts with the “big boys” now. I am sitting at 48 kg (at the age of 44) so I am happy to not lose anymore weight but I strive to keep up my strength, stamina and general well being. I am very happy to be part of the MAX Workout family!

When I started MAX Workouts in the very beginning, I was not big to begin with. I just wanted to lose the little fat I had in the problem areas(especially love handles) and replace it with muscle. My only goal in mind was to look better. I didn’t care what the scale read. I only cared what the pictures showed.
After the 3 month program in the book, I entered the contest as I began the daily workouts online, and here I am today, 10 pounds lighter with more lean muscle than I ever thought I would have.
My favorite part about doing MAX Workouts is actually seeing the results in the pictures and measurements. I would never have guessed I lost an entire inch in my arm in 3 short months!! That’s definitely a soft soft for ladies, along with the waist, where I lost an inch and a half! Being small in the beginning made me have to work that much harder to see results, and it was worth every minute. At the gym I’ve been called “a beast” and “an animal.” It’s nice to have your hard work noticed by strangers even!
Thanks to MAX Workouts, I had to go out and buy new pants, and I was able to buy tighter fitting shirts so I didn’t have to hide my, now, non-existing love handles. Awesome awesome awesome! Thank you sooo much Shin! The online support is worth every penny. It’s nice to know that I can have any question I have about getting better results answered at the click of a mouse, from someone who knows what they are talking about. It’s also nice to know that I’ve come so far, now I can give others the support I once needed in the beginning as well. MAX Workouts has changed my life, my mind, my body and I am never reverting back to my dark days. Keep up the good work, Shin!
×It all started right before Christmas of 2009. I work at the school district that both my sons attend, so we’re all riding in together one morning. With typical Northeast Ohio weather, it was extremely cold & the roads were icy. We were on a very slick road and next thing we knew, we were spinning out of control and onto a ditch. Our SUV ended up on its side. We were all okay, but had to climb out of the vehicle. I just remember being so stressed out, emotional and bitterly cold where my fingers were turning white waiting for my husband and the tow truck. We were shook up and survived, but our SUV was totaled. I firmly believe this traumatic accident started my path to my health issues.
Fast-forward a couple weeks, my loving sister knowing one of my things on my bucket list is to run the Marine Corps Marathon (26.2 miles), gives me my Christmas gift. She paid for my registration fee for the marathon, but I had to quality first at a 10K (6.2 miles) in March 2010 in Quantico, Virginia. With anything I want to accomplish, I research and map out my training schedule starting the first week of January.
I’ve been pretty fit, but I have my yoyo moments in weight. I finished my first day of training with just walking a couple of miles…no big deal, or so I thought! The next day, I could barely get out of bed. I felt like a very old woman creaking out of bed with the middle of my torso on fire and my joints ached & stiff! I was determined to get out of bed and proceeded to do my work-out that morning on my treadmill, but I was stressed out, in pain & miserable. I knew something was wrong.
My husband knowing that this was not normal insisted I see the family doctor to diagnose what’s ailing me. After many tests, the results came back that I have Lupus. [Lupus is an autoimmune disease where the body’s immune system becomes hyperactive and attacks normal, healthy tissue. This results in symptoms such as inflammation, swelling, and damage to joints, skin, kidneys, blood, the heart, and lungs.] I also had Shingles.[After you have chickenpox, the virus that caused it, called varicella, remains in your body. It’s always inside you, lying dormant (or asleep) in your nerve cells. At some point later in life, your immune system may weaken, allowing the virus to resurface as Shingles.] And, Raynaud Disease. [Raynaud’s disease is a rare disorder of the blood vessels, usually in the fingers and toes. It causes the blood vessels to narrow when you are cold or feeling stressed. When this happens, blood can’t get to the surface of the skin and the affected areas turn white and blue.]. I was thoroughly devastated!
My doctor put me on Prednisone, a corticosteroid (steroid) that calms the body’s immune system. This medicine is very powerful and has greatly helped millions of people with Lupus & other ailments. It reduces inflammation and lessens many of the pains of the disease, including muscle and joint pain and stiffness. But Prednisone also comes with some bad side effects, such as intense hunger pangs and fluid retention that can make the face and other parts of the body look puffy. Prednisone causes cravings that lead people to eat more than their body actually needs and gain weight. Although I felt better taking Prednisone, I gained 10 lb. in a short period of time, and I was depressed!
I stopped taking Prednisone and my husband & I were determined that I beat Lupus the natural & healthy way. I went to see a Nutritionist and she helped me with changing my eating habits. I lost some of the weight, but it’s an uphill battle with Lupus until you figure out what works for you.
Even though my doctors tried to discourage me from doing the Marine Corps Marathon that year, I trained and it was very challenging to say the least. During the actual marathon, I did great for the first 10 miles running alongside my sister, and then the pain set in. I would jog for a couple of miles, then had to sit down and rub my aching feet. This was how I spent the rest of the 16 miles. At the last .2 mile, people were cheering me on, the Marine Corps Band was playing and I ultimately crossed the finished line. I did it! I was very emotional when I crossed that line and they put a medal on me. It was a huge accomplishment after months of training, adversity & pain!
Since then, I’ve had my ups & downs and periods of no pain. I’ve noticed that when I’m extremely stressed out, that’s when I get a Lupus flare up. I’ve learned to say “no” and delegate. With 2 busy sons in Sports, Show Choir & Drama, as well as Youth Ministry at Church, there’s just not enough time in a week. I, too, have a full plate. I work full-time at the school, teach 3 nights of Zumba, a member of the Youth Ministry team and an Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministry at Church, as well as volunteer in the Athletic, Choir & Drama Boosters. Although I feel that I don’t eat terrible, my weight hovers between 133-136 lbs. During football and basketball seasons, we’ll eat concession stand food, since it’s available, affordable and convenient. I’m 47 years old (my metabolism started slowing down) and approximately 5’0 feet tall, so I look & feel heavier being relatively small.
I’ve done many programs: Body for Life, P90X, Insanity, & numerous others. I complete the programs and feel great. Then, with our crazy schedules and being unprepared, we’ll eat whatever and I’ll only work out when I have Zumba classes. I know I have to burn more calories than I eat to lose weight. I have the same excuses as everyone else…not enough sleep, so I’m tired; I don’t have time; lack of preparation; and I’m too busy to work out.
Well, this past November 2012, I had a major Lupus flare up and got really sick. My husband & I were on vacation in Florida and I had to go to the ER where they gave me antibiotics. I’ve taken antibiotics numerous times. At that time, I didn’t realize that Lupus can change your body chemical balance and I found out the hard way that I am now allergic to Penicillin. I had a painful red rash throughout my body, my skin peeled all over, and it took about 3 weeks for my body to return to normal. No Zumba and I gained weight.
This year is another busy one for me with my oldest son graduating from high school and going off to Marine Corps Boot Camp and my daughter getting married in June. Lots of wonderful blessings & craziness, and I want to look my best. Thankfully, I joined MAX Workouts and read about the Transformation Contest. It couldn’t have come at a better time! I got prepared for it, took my before pictures and measurements and started eating healthy once again.
I started Monday, January 14, 2013 and finished Saturday, April 6, 2013. It was a phenomenal experience! I lost 10 lbs and 11 ½ inches off my entire body! I was wearing a size 8/10 and I’m now down to a size 4/5. Even though 10 lbs may not seem like a lot, but for me, it’s a great deal! I was pleasantly surprised on how many inches I lost. My clothes are falling off me, my health has improved, I have more energy, lower body fat %, increase muscle and strength, and I feel fantastic!
Shin, I appreciate you developing a program (with videos included that also features your lovely wife, Susan) that is completely laid out, easy to follow, and challenges you week after week. I also want to thank you for being such an encouraging fitness coach through emails that I received throughout this contest! This program is effective, since the exercises are short high intensity workouts that allow me to burn calories well after my workouts. It’s perfect for me, since I don’t have a lot of time. Thank you for putting me back on track. I’m enjoying trying on clothes for the wedding! I will continue your MAX Workouts through the Daily Workouts and encourage others to join your club as well that want to lead a leaner & healthier lifestyle. I will remain fit & healthy…your friend, Arleen.

Although my photographs do not show dramatic change, the decreased measurements tell otherwise and my clothes are now very loose and some will have to go. I focused on measurements rather than my weight because I was not looking to lose much weight. I have much increased strength, flexibility and energy. My posture feels and looks better. I like the way I am looking and my libido is up. I am sleeping so well, having previously been a poor sleeper and occasional insomniac. My skin is in better condition and less spotty. My appetite has increased and I am eating more. I am also less affected by stress at work.
Before the program my lower back and hips ached when I was in bed and was at its worse when standing. It took about one month of doing MAX Workouts for my back to stop aching upon waking.

Dear Shin,
My name is Angela and I’m 38 years old, 5 foot tall and was 165 lbs at my heaviest. I’ve been trying to lose weight for over 2 years by running on the treadmill and weaning myself off processed foods. I had made some progress losing 10 lbs total but hit a wall about 7 months ago and still had low energy levels. I couldn’t walk up a flight of stairs without getting winded and I had to take a nap after work just to get through the rest of the day.
I knew there must be something I was doing wrong in my workout program and maybe my diet as well. So I decided to search the web for a different way to workout. I found the MAX Workout 90 Day program in November of 2011. I decided to give it a try because everything it talked about made sense, sounded logical and was based on scientific facts. I didn’t start on it until after the holidays though. I had to make and sample my traditional holiday Rum Cake 😊
When I started on Jan. 6th I weighed 155 lbs and when I completed the program on April 8th I weighed 138.5 lbs for a loss of 16.5 lbs. Not bad considered I started out not being able to lift more than 5lbs and only being able to do 6 Burpees. I also read and followed the Lean Body Diet and I think that contributed greatly to my success. My energy levels have increased greatly as well as my stamina. I can now basically jog up a flight of stairs without getting winded and I no longer have to take a nap after work.
This is the fastest I’ve ever lost weight and I will continue to use the exercises in the MAX Workout 90 Day program.
Ok, now for the good stuff.

I am 50 this year. I have been overweighed most of the time since I was 30. I tried to keep fit. I was successful to reach certain measurements in the years 2000, 2009 and 2011 by eating less and doing more exercises. However the results were not sustainable and the weight bounced back.
When I saw the pictures of the men having 6 packs, I envied them a lot. One day I accidentally found the book of MAX Workouts on internet. I found it very sensible. Then I immediately bought it. I believed that it might change my life.
After reading the books on MAX Workouts and the Lean Body Diet, I finally understood the importance of weight training and the magic of diet. I started to reduce intake of carbohydrates and do the weight training and the interval cardio training as per the book MAX Workouts.
For the first one and half months, the progress was almost zero because I was not disciplined enough to follow the workout schedule and diet plan every day. Furthermore I had two overseas trips which made me difficult to keep the diet and training schedule.
From July 2, I really focused on the workout schedule and diet plan. The result is fascinating. I lost 9 cm in waist and 6 kg in weight in the past 5 weeks.
I choose to continue this 6-day-a-week workout schedule and the diet plan for the rest of my life. I believe that my fitness level can be improved and maintained only when I have a healthy lifestyle which incorporated correct diet plan and workout plan.
My measurements before and after (in cm and kg):
May 15, 2013 August 11, 2013
Chest: 99 cm 97 cm
Waist: 91 cm 82 cm
Hip: 98 cm 94 cm
Thigh: 57 cm 54 cm
Arm: 31 cm 30 cm
Weight: 73.5 kg 67.5 kg
2012 was the year of change for me. When I first discovered MAX Workouts, I had just graduated college and was taking my first steps into the real world. There was undoubtedly a lot of uncertainty in front of me: would I be able to start a successful career? Where in the world would I end up? Would I be able to keep my long-term relation going strong now that I was officially an adult out on my own? Among those large lingering questions, and many others, was another huge one: would I finally be able to get into shape in a way that I could be proud of?
I actually had a plan for some of the other questions, but the latter question stuck with me as something difficult to achieve, not least of which was because I had tried several times in the past (mainly after every time I finished watching a Rocky movie). Moreover, exercising had always felt like a unmanageable time burden for me and this would be especially true now, with so much else going on in my life. This is not even mentioning that exercising was never fun, even with post-Rocky adrenaline, leaving me in aching pain after just a short while and always easily winded. Perhaps most important of all was one simple fact: I did not know what I was doing and, being straight out of college, I simply did not have the money for the help found in some of the competition’s programs or other alternatives, such as P90X and gym memberships.
Let me also note that I had a somewhat unique challenge before me in another way as well: I was too scrawny. Everyone from my family, to my friends, to strangers would tell me that I was a stick figure man. This was arguably OK as a child and perhaps as a teen, but as an adult being thought of as too skinny or worse, a weakling, began to wear on my psyche. After all: I am a man. But I certainly was not perceived that way, albeit in interviews or elsewhere, and I truly believed my body had something to do with this.
Admittedly, it was also not my goal to be huge. The last thing I ever wanted to do was become a meat head. The fear of being huge, in a way, also prevented me from aggressively pursuing a workout regiment. I merely wanted noticeable definition.
But, as I stated before, it ultimately came down to money. Sure, some could go to expensive facilities or using 100 disc DVD collections, but I did not have the resources. This is when I found Shin’s MAX Workouts program and my summer, as well as the road to answering one of those many questions, took a turn.
I was not convinced when I first saw Shin’s site. I am an inherently skeptical person and I first assumed I had stumbled upon a scam: it was too good to be true. Not only did Shin aggressively undercut the competition in terms of pricing for his program, he also promised to teach how to workout efficiently, eliminating the time burden of exercising. Impossible, I thought. Then I saw this 90-day challenge, which initially only spiked my concerns: on top of practically giving away all that he is offering the potential to win a prize? Right. Finally, I saw the incredible results of so many other people and decided, at that price, and with a genuine desire to achieve my goal, that I should just go for it and give Shin his small fee and 90 days. What was the worst that could happen, really? As it would turn out, Shin was the one that would give me something: the body I had always wanted.
At first, as the e-book stated it would be, the program was hard: very hard. 30 minutes of intense exercise was not something I was used to. However, by just the end of the third workout I found these short sessions as rejuvenating and riveting as they were intense. Add a little “Gonna Fly Now” and “Eye of the Tiger” blaring from the iHome, and my underdog tale was suddenly becoming believable.
I gained inches on my chest and arms and even while I put on muscle my waist was thinner than ever. My body went from the slight definition that came from being thin, to the noticeable definition of lean muscle that Shin had promised. My endurance greatly improved and so did my strength. Before long, I was moving heavy boxes with agility and ease as I settled into my new life. Best of all, the program was filled with options. When the specific exercise was too difficult, or I did not have the right equipment, Shin provided an alternative. MAX Workouts was making it as easy as possible to do what I had always wanted in just 90 days.
At summer’s end, I took a hard-earned trip to the beach (finishing my challenge just a few days early as a result). I received compliments from my girlfriend, family, and yes, even random strangers. Shin’s program of building lean muscle worked. Honestly and truly. I can now look at myself in the mirror and feel confident. I finally achieved my long-time goal of genuine body change.
Since then, some of the other life questions have even sorted themselves out at well. I guess, in a way, Shin’s program started it all.
